Hey, over in the General section, i've been having a discussion about Goal songs in MLS. https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/canned-music-after-each-goal-in-mls.1969682/ Saputo plays Chelsea dagger (chorus at the :33 mark) first of all what do people think of it(I love it). But I'm posting more because over the past 2-3 games the Ultras have been chanting Seven nation army. And as far as I can tell from the TV, WAY louder than the loudspeakers. Which is awesome, but i was wondering uf anyone knows the rationale why? I Think this is a recent phenomenon.
In my experience, Seven Nations Army is usually hummed by supporters when their team enters the pitch. I favor Chelsea Dagger just because it's a lot more unique.
Consider yesterday's game and listen at about 1:35: http://www.impactmontreal.com/fr/news/2012/08/highlights-montreal-impact-3-0-dc-united
I like it its nice too have a song that the rest of the stadium can get into after goal is scored since is seems to be to hard to follow what the capos of umo2 scream out.
got a question... how come in the second half the ultras turn their backs to the field ? just wondering what that means or represents..
They call that la grecque taken from the greek dances its just a choreo done by multiples organised groups around the world.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but I think it symbolized an ultimate trust in the team, such that they don't even need to watch the game to celebrate the team. Sorry, my one game in 132 was the Toronto debacle, no goal song to chant. From the other side of the field I guess I just can't tell and I guess the TV audio mix has changed because I only recently noticed it on TV.
No prob. hopefully it's on its way out though. Well, it kinda is, just a question of whether or not it works.
from all the olé olés in hockey, i am very surprised the ultras dont chant it, i know its not unique or anything but the whole stadium would sing it, it would be crazy
Here's everything you ever wanted to know about the history of Seven Nation Army as a soccer song. http://deadspin.com/5875933/how-the-song-seven-nation-army-conquered-the-sports-world
The olé song is a piece of crap that 's firmly entrenched in the shittiness that is the montreal canadiens death grip on montreal. um02 don't choose to do things based off what might work, they're not there to try to engage the entire stadium, that's the job of the club.
lol ya, im just saying that because at the season opener at the olympic peice of crap, towards the end the whole stadium was chanting olé, and it was insanely loud it was amazing
If other people want to sing it, to have that support, by all means they should keep on singing it. I would prefer them following along with "allez montreal" or "marque nous un but", because it actually holds meaning to imfc, but each their own.
ya i totally agree.. i find it makes the habs seem boring because all they chant is go habs go and ole... it would be awesome if the had fans like the ultras.. but hey hockeys hockey i guess (just talking for nothing lolll bored at work)
hockey's not hockey.... money grubbing pricing out anyone who isn't a spoiled person with steady access to extremely inflated tickets or the occasional fan lucky enough to get to see a game without selling their firstborn in the process is the real problem.
Just saying, it's not hockey's fault. Besides, if you're just talking because you're bored, try not to respond like a shithead when someone is helping you out and indulging your off topic. I'm sure the lazy "wtv bro", was really necessary to post in public though...
