    Better late than never:

So, according to the CL draw, Shakhtar Donetsk got a pretty tough group where they will, most likely, finish third. Dynamo's group is not easy either, but they might be able to compete with Porto for second.

2015/16 UEFA Champions League group stage draw
    Group A:
Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk, Malmö
Group B: PSV Eindhoven, Manchester United, CSKA Moskva, Wolfsburg
Group C: Benfica, Atlético, Galatasaray, Astana
Group D: Juventus, Manchester City, Sevilla, Borussia Mönchengladbach
Group E: Barcelona, Bayer Leverkusen, Roma, BATE Borisov
Group F: Bayern München, Arsenal, Olympiacos, Dinamo Zagreb
Group G: Chelsea, Porto, Dynamo Kyiv, Maccabi Tel-Aviv

Who says Porto can't win the group? Porto advanced farther than Chelsea in the 2014-2015 Champions League after each of them had 14 points in the Group Stage.

So, are you suggesting that Porto is a better team than Chelsea FC based on one previous season?

I'm not saying Porto will win the group, but you were giving them 0 chance and I give Porto some chance. Porto's club coefficient is closer to Chelsea above them (Chelsea is 30.802 better) than to Dynamo Kyiv below them (Porto is 46.243 better).

I did not say Porto has no chance. But I do believe that they are more likely to compete with Dynamo for 2nd place than with Chelsea for 1st. You disagree and use only the fact that they did better just one previous year to support your opinion. Porto, in my opinion, seems to have lost some talent in the offseason.

Apparently Chelsea FC lost something too.

The entire Premiership seems to have lost something. Their 2015/2016 UEFA campaign seems to be a difficult one thus far.

Not bad. Not bad at all... Dynamo looked very organized at the back, decisive and dangerous at the front. We really could have had a bigger victory here. Porto seemed too wooden, too unsure.

Dynamo will get through to the last-16 with a win over Maccabi in two weeks...

Dynamo Kiev is one of two clubs currently in third who could win their group. The other one is PSV Eindhoven who could finish first or last. Porto's loss could cost them because the tiebreaker is head-to-head points followed by head-to-head goal differential and Porto will be eliminated if there is a three-way tie with 11 points. Therefore if Dynamo Kiev wins, Porto must win at Chelsea to advance. The head-to-head goal differential among the top three is +1 for Dynamo Kiev (and it won't change), 0 for Chelsea, and -1 for Porto. Dynamo Kiev is one of two clubs that was in Pot 3 or Pot 4 for the draw who could win their group. The other one is Wolfsburg.

Does winning the group offer any advantages towards the seeding for knock-out stage?

Every Round of 16 matchup has a first place club vs. a second place club from a different group with the first place club hosting the second leg. Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Zenit St. Petersburg have won their groups so far. Two clubs from the same country cannot meet in the Round 16, but Shakhtar Dontesk can't advance anyway. In the Quarterfinals and after, anybody can host either leg against anybody. Dynamo Kyiv hasn't reached the Champions League Quarterfinals since 1998-1999.

It's interesting that they are not making an effort to separate Dynamo from Zenit. Trouble is possible at that fixture if it were to occur.

    @goliath74

Your post made me check with UEFA, and http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/news/newsid=2314594.html#all champions league round contenders says clubs from Russia and Ukraine cannot meet. My previous post simply listed all the first place clubs who weren't in the same group as Dynamo Kyiv without thinking about additional separation rules. Also note that the six possible opponents for Dynamo Kyiv may not be equally likely. For example, Dynamo Kyiv is one of seven possible opponents for Real Madrid and one of six possible opponents for Manchester City. This is because Manchester City cannot play Arsenal.

UEFA says Dynamo Kyiv had the record for consecutive appearances eliminated in the Group Stage with 10.

The Round of 16 draw is on Monday at 6:00 A.M. USA Eastern on Fox Sports 1.

Dynamo Kyiv will play Manchester City. With two clubs left in each pot, there was no suspense because Dynamo Kyiv could not be drawn against Zenit St. Petersburg.

Go Dynamo Kyiv, Go Yarmolenko. Please make sure Man City doesn't get through. We need those EPL teams out of Europe.

Big win by Shaxtar last night away from home!

And in the next round they get Anderlecht. A good draw for them and an opponent which they can over come.

Undoubtedly Man Utd - Liverpool will have all eyes on it.

Yes, but Anderlecht shouldn't be understimated. If anything, they do good in UEL and domestically this year and did a good work on Olympiakos, Tottenham, Monaco etc. Shakhtar are favourites, but not a large ones.

And that glorious perfomance vs. Schalke is something for a history book, I was just as glad as when Shakhtar did it in 2005.

With a 0-0 draw, Dynamo continue their winless streak in England and fail to advance to the CL quarters.
