Polish President Nawrocki has blocked a European billion-dollar loan for the Polish army. He vetoed it because he does not want Poland to be dependent on Brussels. The country was able to borrow 44 billion euros from the EU on favorable terms. The government of liberal Prime Minister Tusk wanted to buy anti-drone weapons, missiles, helicopters and ships with that money. The conservative Nawrocki wants such purchases to be financed differently. Tusk reacts angrily and says that the EU loan is desperately needed to protect Poland from Russian aggression. He believes that Nawrocki "missed the opportunity to behave as a patriot".
Nawrocki and PiS are just mad. There are rumours that PiS acts coordinated with trump's administration to weaken liberal politics and European programs in Poland. It's a desaster for Poland's economy, for the people and the whole of European defense.
if that's true, Tusk should make the move and arrest Nawrocki for conspiring with a foreign government to undermine the Polish security.
Painful blunder: how Trump refused Zelensky's drone shield and is now souring for him The US is facing attacks in the Middle East by cheap Iranian kamikaze drones. At least eleven American bases in the region have not only been hit, but also damaged. Expensive defense systems fail. This brings to light one of the biggest tactical blunders in this war. Hans Renier 13 March 2026, 06:53 Last update: yesterday at 07:52 Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky offered the US a defensive shield against these drones as early as last summer. The White House rejected the plan. Donald Trump then more or less dismissed Zelensky as a slick salesman who wanted to scam the US. Zelensky personally put the proposal on the table at the White House on August 18 last year. The usually well-informed American news site Axios reveals this.
Have we considered the possibility that Zelenskyy has some kind of limited time traveling or fortune telling ability? 1. He is President because he turned a gag set up for a TV series into real life. 2. A year ago he told Trump that someday America would need help in a war.
OTOH, if you could foresee the future, would you run for president of Ukraine just before the Russian invasion, or would you visit the WH after Trump was elected a second time?

Now this is wasted! On May 13, 2024, during his nine-day trip to Ukraine, Aguto was at a dinner in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital. During the engagement, he drank Chacha, an alcoholic beverage that contains 40 to 50 percent alcohol, and testified that he was “some level of intoxicated.” After the dinner, two witnesses reported seeing Aguto fall and hit the back of his head on the wall. Sometime later that night or in the early morning, Aguto fell again and hit his forehead, according to the report. “A preponderance of the evidence established that MG Aguto suffered a moderate-to-severe concussion caused by head injuries from at least one, if not all three, falls in the late evening of May 13 and the morning of May 14,” the IG office said in the report. “MG Aguto’s medical exam on May 14, and a comprehensive evaluation by a neurologist and imaging tests on May 16, confirmed that MG Aguto had a concussion.” Aguto fell for the third time en route to the U.S. Embassy, tearing his jacket and hitting his jaw. A regional security officer told the inspector general’s office that although Aguto knew him, he “looked at him like he barely knew him” and also noticed the Army general had a “little bit of [the] smell of alcohol. https://thehill.com/homenews/5786917-us-army-general-alcohol-incident/amp/
Ukraine has been sending dozens of drones towards Moscow the last four days. It's not really clear what kinds or what targets - the all get shot down. But that may be the ultimate goal - to reduce Russia's supply of missiles and to force them to bring in more air defense. Russia can't allow Moscow to appear vulnerable, but that opens up every other target.
Yesterday Ukraine struck a large oil depot in Labinsk, Krasnodar krai, resulting in the reported destruction of almost every tank there. https://ru-themoscowtimes-com.trans...l=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp
Zelenskyy is claiming that a planned Russian offensive in March has been canceled because of disruptions by Ukrainian forces. https://united24media.com/latest-ne...ian-spring-offensive-zelenskyy-confirms-16934 Ukraine has been changing their tactics in the last few months, and it's been paying off. Basically, it involves picking limited geographic areas and flooding them with drones - not just the short range quadcopters to take out all the individual troops in the increasingly misnamed "front line", but using larger numbers of medium range drones to take out headquarters, supply depots, ammo dumps and the like.
According to the head of Starlink IT, after they cut off Russian troops, the traffic from Ukraine dropped by 75%. So the Russian military was using 75% of all Starlink bandwidth, military and civilian, within Ukraine's borders. On Feb-4, @Starlink disabled terminals in Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine that weren't on Ukrainian Ministry of Defense's approved list.We saw a 75% drop in Starlink traffic to Ukraine as a result. 🤯https://t.co/Qzbrpl6DjD pic.twitter.com/34KczNKlh4— Doug Madory (also on Bluesky) (@DougMadory) March 11, 2026 https://nitter.poast.org/DougMadory/status/2031752517130863100
I suspect the medium range drones had more to do with the March offensive being cancelled. While the flooding of the zone with quadcopters has definitely had an impact on Russia's ability to capture territory, there is no longer a safe place in Ukraine (and in some areas of Russia) where Russia can stage their soldiers in preparation for an assault. Even getting supplies to the front is extremely difficult. There's many, many videos of Ukrainian quadcopters blowing up Russian supply trucks deep behind the front line and, in many cases, the only way to get supplies to the front line is by using transport drones carrying one ammo case at a time.
I want to assure people Russia's drone threat on and near the front lines is great. But there is a difference. Here is what a hard-hit Ukrainian supply line looks like: Those are all unmanned vehicles.
Sorry. Yeah. That's what I meant. Quadcopters have the 30km covered, and the "medium range" has up to 100km. Ukraine is also improving on the targeting ability of the Flamingo and, if/when they get that address, you can push out to 300km.
Not all of that was Russian military use tho. Even tho Ukraine was being supplied with Starlinks by Poland, a lot of their front line units were still using "private" Starlinks. Not to mention the number of Ukrainian civilians that were using Starlink for their internet service.. All of those were turned off by the new "white list" process Starlink requires.
The Czech Republic is surly buying a surprisingly large number of Taiwanese drones. "Seems like Taiwan is seriously ramping its Chinese-input-free domestic drone production, from producing 10,000 in 2024 to exporting 123,000 in 2025. This feels like a small subplot today that could become a huge deal down the road."
