An hour long youtube video from someone that has been posting Ukrainian related videos ever since the start of the war. They are consolidating the analysis of several OSINT accounts on twitter/telegram/etc that have been monitoring Russia's vehicle and artillery stockpiles. Based on that analysis and the current rate of withdrawal from the stockpiles, Russia is going to burn through their APCs, IFVs, and some of their artillery in 2025 or 2026. Once Russia has burned through its stockpiles, that means they'd be reliant upon production and "other sources". Russia could, obviously, adjust the rate that they are burning through their vehicles and artillery, but their current advances are being fueled by the vehicles from the stockpiles.

That is sad, I visited Sofia 8 years ago and it was beutiful (although still with VERY soviet architecture ). And the food was delicious!

Very friendy people too. An old lady aproached us because we were talking in spanish and greeted us. She learnt spanish in Cuba during soviet times.

The issue with this is that Ukraine is also failing to entice enough 24+ to address their manpower issues. They are also prohibiting females from serving. That's not to say they need to put them on the front lines, but there are plenty of roles behind the lines that are being filled by males that could be filled by females.

I'd also add that Ukraine's demographic issues are not going to be addressed post-war by protecting males 18-24. There is going to be a mass exodus as they head to other EU countries for employment opportunities.

It's a nice city, very livable and certainly has its charms. My wife inherited an apartment--it's in one of those socialist-era panel buildings, but close to a metro line and two tram lines, and only a 20 minute walk from downtown. So we spend quite a bit of time there--she's 9 month faculty at a community college, and spends a good share of every summer catching up with friends & family.

The demographic decline is a lot more evident in the rural areas--Sofia keeps growing. My first visit was in 2000, and the city is WAY more sprawling now.

I like Bulgarians--they are very sociable and seem to value friendship more than Americans.

One of my wife's best childhood friends learned Spanish in Cuba as a child.

  5. Thanks for the context info. It's quite confusing to see wildly differing numbers going round.

Relentless ecomomic decline started in the early 80s (40 years ago), followed by a collapse in the 90s.

People stopped having children until stabilty returned in the early 00s

The Russian Duma wants to get rid of Elvira Nabiullina, the current head of the Russian Central Bank, and have introduced a bill to do just that. Every Western observer I've read consider her brilliant and one of the most important assets Russia has to keep their economy going. But the Duma is tired of someone that lives in the world of facts, and wants to exchange her with direct control over what the numbers are.

The Russian did place one trillion rubles worth of OFZ bonds today. But it's all floating rate. They might survive this year, but next year will be a year of pain.

    Russia has the same phenomenon.

It’s one of the reason Putin called the breakup of the Soviet Union the greatest geopolitical catastrophe of the last century. It’s also why the Russians kidnapped children at the beginning of the war.

I think most of it is that those people are now in Germany or Poland or elsewhere in Europe.

In Russia’s case, add in echoes from WWII and Stalin’s post-WWII purges, one of which hit when the Soviet union imploded.

  17. Doubt it, as the dent is specifically in the 20 yo spot. Those who fled and are over here are most females around 30/40 with children and there's no dent in the 10 yo spot.
    I could be wrong, though.

I don't know how else you would lose two thirds of the expected numbers. That's beyond Black Death.

Another targeted assassination by Ukraine. This time it is a designer for cruise missiles and drones that Russia uses to attack Ukraine

While there have been occasional North Korean sightings at the front, today was the first large-scale assault by North Koreans of the war, at least as claimed by Ukraine. No proof yet - even through some close-up video shots have been taken by drones, there are some ethnicities of Russians that look very similar to North Koreans. North Koreans are also given fictitious Russian documents on entering the country, so we can't depend on those either. We have to wait for prisoners. This was in the Kursk front, although Ukraine claims that North Koreans are readying to attack other fronts soon.

No, they're North Koreans. Not even Russians send their men across open ground on foot . . . in broad daylight . . . without armoured escort . . . or artillery cover.

Keep refreshing because you've never seen anything like it. Unfcuking believable

The lack of Ukrainian artillery when this many troops are out in the open is…concerning.
