Kinda. I realized that I hadn't actually looked into this claim myself and I think there should be a pretty large "It depends" slapped on this claim. While it may be true in most years, the volume of undocumented coming across the border now is really high and likely means the border is currently where the highest number are entering the US. I found this article from 2019 and visa overstays were between 500k and 800k per year

    https://www.npr.org/2019/01/10/6836...tion-mostly-occur-heres-what-the-data-tell-us

This is inline from this report from the DHS saying in 2022 the estimated overstay was 854k.

    https://www.dhs.gov/sites/default/f...CBP_Integrated_Entry_Exit_Overstay_Report.pdf

Given that number, the US already has crossed that number for 2024 with encounters at the US border, which hit 1.44m in June.

Well, in 2019, it was still the case that majority of illegals arrived through the point of entry.

    https://www.npr.org/2019/01/10/6836...tion-mostly-occur-heres-what-the-data-tell-us

Additionally, the number you are quoting (1.44M) actually includes expulsions and inadmissibles. These people are sent back after apprehension, so never truly make it inside the country.

So, to conclude, we had 1.44M "border encounters", some of which never made it into the country. This is not the number to compare against the "overstays".

Sure - but that tends to be the preferred template, otherwise you end up with people drowning in the ocean and other horrific outcomes. See in particular the UK as a country that decided they could simply refuse to accept migrants by closing all 'legal' routes. People just came anyway, in increasing numbers, via very dangerous routes.

The main point here is that righty fever dreams don't deal with the actual realities of what to do when millions of people are on the move. They especially don't care about OP's conspiratorial ideas and dreams of white enclaves.

It is not true. This is not the thread for that discussion.

Yeah, it was noted shortly after the attack was announced that there were a large quantity of munitions stored outside.

Also, another analysis of the high res videos.

Over 80% of the structures in the new areas of the depot (the light colored areas) show damage, with 23 of 23 buildings and 15 of 42 bunkers being destroyed, another 10 most likely destroyed, and 17 others at least damaged.

For the older section of the depot (the dark area), 70-90% of the structures have been damaged with 17 buildings and 2 open air dumps destroyed and a number of other parts obscured by smoke and likely destroyed as well.

Given the heat and shockwaves emitted from the destroyed structures, it's likely the munitions in even the surviving bunks are functionally destroyed, even if they aren't physically destroyed.

Knowing people in Bergen, I’m glad to see they are continuing south. But this is clearly still high-stakes “hot potato”.

Just to steal a popular Russian statement... Ukraine has the Russian Kursk counterattack trapped in a cauldron! Up to 6,000 Russian soldiers trapped and soon to be completely destroyed!!!

But, seriously, Russian sources are finally admitting that the Kursk counter-offensive was a failure and that the troops involved in the attack are in a pocket with Ukrainian troops working on closing the pocket behind them. I highly doubt that there are really 6,000 Russian troops in the pocket and I highly doubt they will remain if Ukraine makes confirmed advances in closing the pocket behind them.

What is it about that strip of land that makes armies form pockets and cauldrons, and begin ill-timed offensives.

Interestingly, most mappers are on a more conservative side of things here and have so far positioned the line of Ukrainian advance around half way to Glushkovo.

The mappers generally wait for visual confirmation and Ukrainians tend to wait until after they've already left an area during an advance before they post videos. Russian sources have said Ukraine bypassed several villages in the pocket and are well on their way to Glushkovo. The advance reportedly includes Leopard tanks and other Western vehicles.

Veseloe is only half way to Glushkovo (visually according to the map). Most mappers show Ukrainian advance to Veseloe.

While the interest rate in Russia is approaching 20%, that isn't actually the rate that most people getting a loan pay. Russia has long had heavily subsidized rates for people buying a home or companies in certain industries.

However, yesterday we had one bank say they will no longer create home mortgages, and today the Ministry of Agriculture asked the Ministry of Finance to increase the subsidization of these loans so that farm loans can continue to be made. Looks like the fund to support the privileged rates has run out. If farms that barely survived paying a 5% loan last year have to pay a 19% loan this year, it would be massive trouble for the economy. But where's the money going to come from?

Oh, and I want to clarify something. While Russian figures are generally accurate, you are right that it doesn't mean they want to give the west proof of their problems. So in the last year they have increasingly made a number of state financial figures state secrets. We now fewer details on the Russian economy, and have to rely on secondary effects to figure out some things.

Interesting thought…to what extent is the public perception of the EU changin? Obviously it began as a purely economic entity. Citizenship is a significant change to that.

So you believe that Islam is just a religion ? and that there is such thing as Sharia or a goal for an earthly one world government (Caliphate) ?

In Denmark both the far-left and far-right are almost nonexistent because the Social Democrats (equivalent to the UK Labour) are tough on immigration, not least from the Middle East, just as there is now double up on the penalty for doing crime and gang violence in ghettos, and the no ghetto plan by 2030 that also include mandatory Kindergartens for small children so they get to learn the Danish language and culture, and cutting social benefits if their parents do no comply, and I agree with this all the way.

*blinkblink* If you keep digging, you'll pop out on the other side, I'm sure.

But we get it, you're an Islamophobe. You don't need to convince us any more than you already have.

That was noticed early on and frankly is the only way it could have happened. The bunkers themselves are proof against any native weapon Ukraine has, especially the drones that were filmed going to the base. This kind of bunker is Storm Shadow territory (it's exactly what they were made for), but those can't be used in Russia yet.

Kind of speaks about the violence of the explosions on the surface if open-air detonations were able to crack so many of the hardened, thick concrete emplacements.

Yep it's just a religion and most Muslims are not particularly strict about following their religion's laws, same as Christians and Jews.

Ehhhhhhh. The open air storage were only in the old section of the depot, not the new area. The bunkers destroyed there were either destroyed by unexploded munitions expelled from the open air bunkers that exploded on impact, or Russian corruption gonna corrupt and the bunkers in the new area weren't as secure as one may think.
