Allegedly, back in April, Turkey offered to take the remaining Azov soldiers and civilians out of Azovstal and keep them in Turkey until the end of the war. Ukraine offered to exchange 1,000 POWs. Seems like a good deal, yes? Well, Russia declined. Turkey offered to take Ukrainian soldiers in Azovstal out of Mariupol with a ship that can carry 2,000 people, promising that they will be kept in Turkey until the end of the war. Russia refused, according to Ukrainian negotiator Mustafa Dzhemilev 1/— Ragıp Soylu (@ragipsoylu) May 12, 2022
🔴Russia has been forced to use computer chips from dishwashers and refrigerators in their military hardware as a result of western sanctions, a top US official has said https://t.co/hI2ksIh2tU— The Telegraph (@Telegraph) May 12, 2022 Apologies for posting a Torygraph piece.
Ukrainian officials are claiming that they have hit a Russian logistics ship near Snake Island. As with previous claimed sinkings, make sure to apply a mountain of grains of salt with this claim until non-Ukrainian sources confirm this. We don't want a repeat of the Admiral Makarov which was claimed to have been hit last week, but was seen in operation this week. There were Claims earlier today by Odessa Regional Officials that the Russian Logistics Ship the Vsevolod Bobrov was hit by Ukrainian Navy Anti-Ship Missiles off the Coast of Snake Island, so far there have been no evidence of this occurring such as Distress Signals or Pictures. pic.twitter.com/RZgn5l5Dz7— OSINTdefender (@sentdefender) May 12, 2022
Following release of the above map, Russia has taken down the celphone network in the Donbas region... Keep in mind, Russia's secure communications use cellphone networks and, as a result, they will be strictly limited to unsecure communication methods. Today's episode of history repeats itself - Russian forces have knocked out cell phone coverage in Luhansk and large portions of the Kharkiv Oblast to minimize social intelligenceIn other news, Russia's ERA secured communication system relies on 3G and 4G networks— Malcontent News (@MalcontentmentT) May 12, 2022
A bit of context for the bridge busting - it looks like the Russians have ensmallened the pincers yet again and are now (or maybe were) trying to only put the towns of Lysychansk and Sievierodonetsk in the pocket going in at Popasna from the south and the failed bridgeheads in the north. It would be a nice victory for them if they could. But that was a pretty big chunk of their attacking forces they just lost.
Well, there's the guardian and... er... Most people tend to rely on TV current affairs programmes and news coverage for accurate information as most newspapers have difficulty separating their news coverage from their editorial. It's not that things like the torygraph don't have decent coverage but it's a bit hit and miss. The Times, again, can be good but, like most Murdoch products, it will cover things well as long as they're not directly against Murdoch's interests. The BBC website coverage is pretty good and, like the grauniad, it's free. That's why they're the ones I usually rely on. Once you move away from them I'd like to have corroboration from another source.
If it weren’t for the rampant death this would be comical! I mean, I’m really into history, but not military history, because what I love about history is understanding other lives. The details of weaponry and flanking maneuvers ain’t that. But even someone like me completely bored by these kinds of details knows not to do that. How the hell can guys in uniform be so ********ing dumb? It’s a Princess Bride meme.
https://www.tanks-encyclopedia.com/coldwar/Netherlands/YPR-765.php #Ukraine: YPR-765 APCs, donated by the Netherlands, are already in service with Ukrainian Forces. When you are faced with the choice of spending your budget in a robust training and force readiness program…or on you villa and yacht in Italy, or your duma outside Moscow (depending on your rank and budget)…these things can happen to any military leader.
For @spejic and all the other Fallout fans on this board Wow. Sent from a friend. So with the news that Finland is formally applying to nato…this is too good not to post A Finnish general reacting to Putin’s threats if Finland joins NATO: “You are most welcome here to join the 200,000 Russians that are already in Finland buried a few meters in the ground after your last attempt in 1939" #Finland #NATO #UkraineRussianWar https://t.co/tc4Wvp3Xv5 pic.twitter.com/T5Hk7cumAr— Putin Put out (@BLABLA38480996) April 16, 2022
Surprise, Surprise. Rand Paul blocks bipartisan effort to swiftly pass Ukraine aid The article also talks about another bill he is single-handedly holding up. Kentucky, you can do better than this pile of $h!T. Oh, wait....
The ever shrinking Russian offensive may be shrinking to just Severodonetsk. After pulling troops out of the Izyum area to defend the East bank of the Donets, the Russians seem to have given up on advancing out of Izyum. Instead, they seem to be trying to build on the success of the Wagner mercenaries capture of Popapsna and are slowly moving to encircle Severodonetsk. #Russian forces may be abandoning efforts at a wide encirclement of #Ukrainian troops along the Izyum-Slovyansk-Debaltseve line in favor of shallower encirclements of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk.Read the latest from @TheStudyofWar and @criticalthreats:https://t.co/VxNkHsOInx pic.twitter.com/UcfBQlkQwt— Institute for the Study of War (@TheStudyofWar) May 13, 2022 The question remains, after the reduction of the initial invasion to take the entire country, to just trying to take the Donbas region, while the Russians even be able to succeed at this much, much smaller offensive. Alternatively, will the Ukrainians be able to build on their successes so far and be able to start clearing out the Russians around Izyum and the are east of Kharkiv?
That failed crossing of the Donets by the Russians is turning into a real shellacking for the Russians. It sounds like the Ukrainians didn’t destroy all of the Russian forces that made it across on the pontoons and there is now a small group trapped across the river. The Russians have made several more attempts to build pontoon bridges that would allow this force to retreat back across the river, but all attempts have had the predictable result. Dead Russians and destroyed pontoons. According to reports, yesterday, Russian forces attempted to recover some of the troops and equipment that crossed the Siverskyi Donets River a couple of days ago. It didn’t go well. Destroyed and abandoned PMP bridging units, BTRs, and BREM ARVs. pic.twitter.com/cd43J8IIgK— OSINTtechnical (@Osinttechnical) May 13, 2022
McCain already publicly called out this asshat as a Russian asset years ago. Yet he is still in place as if it is normal to have a U.S. senator entirely beholden to the Kremlin?
I have been wondering, considering how they have performed in Ukraine, what exactly was the Russian army's pre-war status based on? The idea did seem to be that they were a formidable fighting force.
The problem for the Dutch forces is that now for weeks already the government is frantically trying to find ammo to buy, about 0.5 billion €€ to fill up the stock.
On the military industrial complex lobby to sell weapons to defend ourselfs against that "formidable, well equipped fighting force". After this war Rvssia will be degraded as a military power to the North Korea status, a 3d world country with nukes. Most probably the NK have a superior fighting force compared to them.
