    I wanted to highlight something.

Medvedev knows that all of that is pure grade BS. But his audience lap it up and for me that is scary.

How can people believe such outright lies is mind blowing to me

  2. If you havenot got sources that provide you with reliable info or if you don't get to see/presented what really is going on you havenot got a choice.
Dunno of course how many Russians really believe this crap.

Denmark has released an image of the object they found near the Nordstream pipeline and believe that it is a smoke marker buoy that just happened to end up near the pipeline when the buoy sank after serving its purpose.

I'm sure we've all seen too many videos of Ukrainian drones dropping grenades onto/into abandoned Russian tanks and IFVs. Maybe they hit a mine or broke down or were hit already. And you might be wondering why go through the bother if the vehicle isn't an immediate threat and probably won't be for a while.

Today we got a statistic from Ukroboronprom, the Ukrainian defense industry umbrella group, that might shed light on that. They say that up to now they have repaired 3069 vehicles and returned them to the front - that's over 90% of all vehicles that were rendered inoperative for any reason. They say some tanks have been fixed of battle damage 6 times. Unless it's been exploded or totally burned out, they can make it work again.

I'm not sure how committed Russia is to doing the same. We know that after Ukraine recaptured Izium and Kherson they found large numbers of inoperative vehicles just sitting. And earlier this month some pictures were released of collection yards where Russians put large numbers of inoperative vehicles and it doesn't look like there's a lot of repairing going on. Still, better not to take the chance. If you can't get to it, make sure Russia can only collect a rusted and smoky shell.

And it is relatively inexpensive to drop a HEAT round from a drone into the open hatch of a tank/apc, so why not take it out?

Right. Possession of the battlefield was a big thing in previous wars so you could recover your breakdowns and knocked out tanks. It’s also not uncommon to run out of fuel.

the new thing is you can take these tanks out systematically.

In ww2 the US was excellent with its battlefield repair shops.

It could be for training purpose, because the many flying Russian tank turrets must have converted a lot of their tank crews to "air pilots" during this war.

But the latest footage posted of the old T-54/T-55 tanks is reportedly brand new.

I was thinking the same thing. Every German WWII panzer unit after-battle report would end with the number of German tanks knocked out, and then number of these tanks recovered.

Lots of propaganda nonsense is being spread, like former Colonel Douglas Macgregor, who a few days ago, in an interview I watched, postulated that Ukraine had lost 402 fighter jets (of the only 97 they had before the war started) and that Russia have also shot down 256 of Ukraine's (only around 50) attack helicopters. He also stated that Ukraine had suffered around 250,000 dead and 300,000 to 400,000 wounded soldiers, so I guess there are none left to fight the Russian army in Ukraine but the Russians themselves.

What training would it be used for? The T55 is a very different tank than the T72s that are the basis for Russia's tanks..

The footage doesn't show them headed to Ukraine tho. It's literally just the tanks on trains headed away from where they were stored.. Something that Russia has been doing for years as they scrap the tanks.

Well, Colonel Douglas Macgregor was hired by President Trump to serve as senior advisor to the Secretary of Defense back in 2020, so he is riding the Putin and kremlin propaganda train.

To be honest, having seen footage of Russian artillery personnel complaining about being sent to the front-line and thrown into battle as infantry, then I also suspect the Russian military do not really care much about what kind of tanks are being used for training their future tank crews.

Man Russia did really chose the wrong country to invade.

    1. Ukraine is big.

    2. Many Ukrainians speak Russian. So if they intercept a call they know what the Russians are speaking all the time. Imagine requesting a translator to find out the guy was asking his wife on what type dishwasher to steal

    3. They know the Russian tactics and Russian weapons. Hence they know the actual quality and what exactly the weapons are good and bad at

    4. They can easily operate the Russian tech they get their hands on. And if not they have the manual on hand which again are in Russian so see point 2

And these are on top of the Russian screw ups that is a list on their own. On top of the list being their belief Ukrainians will greet them as liberators or how their logistics were planned with the idea of reaching Kiev in 2 weeks...

Same was said about T-62 and yet here we are

    edit:

    Vladimir Solovyov thinks is legit

Operating tracks off road / in bad weather for months is extremely tough on the kit - which isn't rated for long use without maintenance in the first place, so many losses are mechanicals, especially throwing a track not to mention getting stuck. Then there are all the drive train/engine issues which are still easy fixes but need a field shop. Poorly trained crews and poor maintenance are a big factor in this stuff.

it's why i hate to see them pulling tanks out of the mud with other tanks - your tank engine is NOT designed to haul loads! 40 tonnes stuck in mud. just no! please get a tractor!

Except that the article admits that Ukraine has managed to do just that.

The fact that there is a segment of the population that doesn’t want to enlist, or will actively avoid serving, shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone. Nor should instances of the wrong people getting called up.

Obviously, the source of soldiers in Ukraine is finite. But that article doesn’t include one data point showing that Ukraine is not hitting its recruitment targets.

Always found it absurd that the Russian propaganda postulate that they are there to "liberate" the Ukrainians from their Nazi anti-Russian language leadership, considering that Zelensky is not only Jewish but his first language is Russian and not Ukrainian. In fact, the highly popular Ukrainian TV series, Servant of the People (which I highly recommend people to watch), that later also practically caused Zelensky to become President in real life, as member of a party of the same name, is in Russian and not in the Ukrainian language, and Zelensky himself spoke the Ukrainian language rather poorly when he was elected, though he now speaks it more or less flawlessly, just as his English has become much better than before.

Meloni is 100% for the cause with this passionate speech about the importance of Italy to send money and weapons to Ukraine

However, shes is growing unpopular within her her coalition government and population partly because of this

PM Meloni is unpopular because she is Prime Minister. Don't you know how Italian politics works?

Obviously more than you do since some of the biggest criticism against her is that she`s not doing what she campaigned on, but you wouldn't know that either

You know so little about Italian politics/history you don't see the obvious humor in Brummie's post. Or maybe you are just young.

The gap between knowledge vs. belief can get stretched pretty far when your identity or sense of self-worth are at odds with reality.
