I've never made a secret of my distaste for Sean Dyche or Burnley. To wit: Next time Sean Dyche goes on some rant about ‘the state of the game’, ask him what he really means. Ask him why the only players in his squad who aren’t from the British Isles are from Benelux & Scandinavia. Ask him why there are only two non-white players in his squad.— JB™️ (@gunnerpunner) August 18, 2019 Also can't figure out what channel this is on, though NBC coverage is riddled with Olympic stuff (but the Winter games are in 2022?). It's probably on NBCSN, but might be on Gold? Time: 1400 GMT/0900 AM EST/0800 CST TV: Maybe?
Haha, I had to do a double take on the thread title before I knew exactly what you meant! We are DEFINITELY on NBCSN... in the 9am ET slot. Also, for lack of a better place to put this. I just listened to a good Arsecast about Martinelli & Ceballos. I found it above average, perhaps because he had some new voices on to chat. But at the very end of the show there's one of those little tidbits he hides from time to time. This one is priceless... he uses his newest toy, a robotic voice effect, to recreate one of the most classic moments in Arsenal history! https://arseblog.com/2020/01/episode-561-the-boy-from-brazil/
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.in...ue-most-interesting-project-a8124456.html?amp A very interesting article on Sean Dyche, Burnely, Britishness and Brexit. All are intertwined. I think we recoil so much when we compare our club to a club like Burnley because we are literally the opposite in every way. I do think some teams have followed the Burnely model Sheffield, Bournemouth and Norwich have all British Isles or some Scandinavian players. Turf Moor is a tough place to play wonder if Laca gets the bench or Mari comes in relief. I suspect a 4-2-3-1 and an ugly match.. 2-1 Arsenal over the Brexiteers.
the question is whether Arteta will bench Lacazette or Martinelli? Im sure he doesnt want to hurt the mentality of Lacazette but hes a dead horse out there right now and Martinelli is a better winger than Auba is. Auba is better in the middle than Laca. and the combined speed of Martinelli, Auba, and Pepe is scary.
I doubt Arteta is one to worry too much about Laca's psychology. And I wouldn't either. Both Martinelli and Auba are playing better so they should play. Pepe is the only one who you could have more of a debate over IMHO.
not with the alternatives. I think the psychology does matter. In the Chelsea post match interviews Arteta even talking about sending the wrong message with substitutions. That is total management of players including mentality imo.
Yeah, but I think I've seen other signals from Mikel to the contrary. In any case, we'll see on Sunday who starts, and that should inform the situation better than either of our speculations.
Too true and hopefully I will see Laca on the bench. If nothing more than to try something new. Really it depends on whether or not burnley will bunker or not as to which is the right choice.
Gotta have Laca start for his confidence as well as for future sale of him in the summer. He won't be worth much collecting dust on the bench and he needs to round into form to expect anything from him. At the same time he has produced for us for a long period of time, in this time of support we as supporters need to support Laca! I know he will get good again, have Martinelli come in relief.
I just glanced at the table. We absolutely need 3 points this weekend! We sit 10th, but level on 30 points with teams in 11th-14th place (Palace, Everton, Burnley, Newcastle). So if we lose at Burnley, and the other 3 teams win or draw, then we're in 14th. I'm sure this is not lost on Arteta and the boys. I just pray he doesn't save his pep talk for halftime.
Other results didn't exactly go our way today, so 3pts is even more imperative. Pressure's on. Sorry Mikel!
I dunno. Most of the folks between Arsenal and Chelsea dropped points, so not too bad. Granted, Arsenal is low enough in the table they need points regardless.
Off we go with another attempt at the Laca and Auba pairing, at the expense of Pepe. Still not convinced but hopefully the sum total of offensive potential wins the day today. Up the Gunners!
As a lifelong Chiefs fan, this Arsenal match this morning isn't going to be the thing that makes or breaks my day
