After 15 seasons, Sasha Begovic has called it quits at UIC. Congratulations to him on a great career.

NCAA openings are few and far between, so this should garner some interest. The Horizon is not a power conference, but there is no reason someone couldn't make UIC into a good little program.

That's what happens when you can't hold on to players. This season he only had one senior who stayed with his program for all four years. All of the best players had tranferred out after their first couple of years. Additionally, this guy went out of his way to recruit players from Yugoslavia and Croatia while completely ignoring a hotbead of talent in the Chicagoland area. Many of his walk-ons and non-scholarship players are much better than the Europeans he brought to the program. The fact of the matter is that coaches no longer have to travel overseas to get the best young talent. His recruiting methods were outdated and UIC needs a breath of fresh air.

Yeah. Not to mention that his game comportment was often a detriment to his team's performances, as well as embarrassing to the university.

Was he a screamer, was he a jerk to his players, what exactly was the problem?
