The thing with Rash is that while his play and especially his decision making has been very poor this season at times, at least he's still producing in terms of overall goal contribution, whether it's in goals or assists. I'll take that over playing poorly and not even contributing in those areas. For the time being at least, with hopes he gets going soon and picks his overall game to a more acceptable level.
For all the complaining, warranted I might add, about our defense, Sociedad's is a real joke. That is as bad as it comes, thankfully for us.
FT: 0-4. Well Ole's decisions paid off today and he'll have some rope to play with in the return leg (ahead of the league game vs Chelsea).. Light work from the boys today.
Good to put the tie to bed. It would be amazing if we could give Bruno a rest and get PT for Amad and Shola and some other fringe players for the next leg.
and rest both FBs. would be nice to have true back ups for both. re: Rashford - this might be a long shot but i'm wondering if there is any chance he is trying these impossible dribbles due to the poor form of the other forwards? if not, we have a much bigger problem with him
That was a good performance, particularly given the players that were missing. Were there holes? Yes (see my last line). But I certainly didn't see us winning the away leg of this tie by this amount - and, frankly, it should have been 2 or 3 more but for some bad finishing. Every guy out there today played well -- some very well.
Notoriously unreliable, but at the same time we really should see more of him when he's fit. We just look a completely different team with him there and Mag looks a capable (and just more comfortable) player next to him as well. We can go with Mag and Vic vs the likes of Newcastle and even for the return leg vs this lot but for the games vs Chelsea and especially City, if Bailly is good to go, he's a must start for me. Best CB, without a doubt. Both him and Shaw right now are the best defenders we've got. Speaking of Diallo: this is kind of crazy considering the limited time he had on the pitch. Amad Diallo completed three take-ons for #mufc against Real Sociedad, more than any other player in the second half. He came on in the 82nd minute ⚽️ [@Squawka]— United Zone (@ManUnitedZone_) February 18, 2021
Fred was so good yesterday. Really showing some growth. He's been at the heart of a lot of moves we build breaking the press. He's come on leaps and bounds since he first moved to United and I think today he's closer to the player I imagined he'd be. La Real gave Fred and Scott too much time on the ball, they looked like juggernauts yesterday. Kinda funny to watch a team fail to contain our CMs when we were playing our "contain their midfield" lineup. I'm perplexed as to why Amad was played on the left, but it was only 10 minutes.
Speaking of our resident pastor, don't think there is any doubt that he must be a great presence, as well as a very beloved figure in the dressing room. ♥️♥️♥️ pic.twitter.com/M1oxLf6sHW— 天蝎座 (@UtdEIIis) February 19, 2021
