Sure, but at least there are no excuses for him now. Being in CL (and especially doing relatively well and potentially qualifying) could mask a lot of team deficiencies. He now gets a full offseason and ability to fully concentrate on Premier League. If there's no meaningful improvement by November, he deserves to be fired.

    Sad.

But its pretty damning that two utter shit teams were in the final (then again I can't even remember who won the cup last season)

I mean I think overall Man Utd were the better team on the night (which says alot about Spurs), but when you rely on players like Rasmus and Onana to score and keep a clean sheet, what do you expect?

IMO Ruben is not the coach for United if he's not flexible, there's no money to spend on players. Its not like Chelsea who can spend billions on a whole new team

Ratcliffe and the Glazers will be gone within 3 years. They will be forced to fire sale as we will be near catastrophe financially.

What an utterly flaccid, boring, uninterested performance from the team. Nobody looked like they wanted to win, they certainly didn't play like it.

We just let Spuds beat us for the 4th time this season. Unbelievable.

we now have a losing record in UEL finals. so that's cool.

the last one we botched was the last straw for me with Solskjær. not there with Amorim, especially because he is newer and hasn't been allowed to change ten Hag's squad much but he botched this badly too.

Shaw and Mount starting? who have played a combined 5 games or whatever for you? and to do what exactly? what did they excel at that would be a weakness for Tottenham?

and then you already admitted Garnacho is the only pacy player who can break lines and disrupt defences and then bench him? and then give him only 20 mins or whatever it was?

Yoro was fine but why would you drop THREE injury prone guys just back from spells out into the starting XI?

these are the big moments that make or break managers. and Amorim failed badly.

summer recruitment has become much harder now

I can't disagree. I think he figured Mount won a CL at Chelsea and Shaw is an experienced big game guy. Should have danced with the girl that got you there. I would have started Nacho with Bruno up top and Ugarte with Case in the middle. Go with Lindelof in the back 3.

    Out to where? lol Bed?

Probably deserves it after this game. Ive never felt a way about his refusal to change. Thats what I like the most probably. But today, he had to do something and he didnt. On top of that Kobe and Ale only played peanut minutes.

    --------------------------------------

Out of all our cup losses overthe years. Semi or final... this one for me means the least. Also happy for these two teams to show up the Europa cup making the final.

I was hoping we'd be braver like we were against Bilbao in this very same stadium only a couple of weeks ago. Despite Spurs having a weakened offense, we caved in.

This is the difficulty we've been having with the 3-4-3. We tend to revert to back 5. Our 2 central midfielders tend to be outnumbered and aren't able to support or join the attack as much as they should. And the fact is we don't have a forward who can hold the ball up and score.

I can understand Amorim's frustrations with the players chickening out, not meeting his demands, but it wouldn't kill Amorim to be a bit more pragmatic. There's a few different things he can do without totally sacrificing his much vaunted 3-4-3.

I wonder if Amorim made the changes he made based on the effort he said he expected from players to be chosen for the final? We know mount is a try-hard-do-nothing. I wonder what he saw in training or the Chelsea game that he liked/didn’t like.

I think he picked Mount because he thought it would be a game of limited chances, and he trusts Mount more to finish versus Nacho. I'm basing that off his comment about Nacho.

Everything else Mount gave him, like work rate, was a bonus.

I'm more intrigued by the Ugarte omission myself.

We should sell about half the squad.

I'm a bit concerned about Kobbie too and what's happening there. So many questions including contractual, system fit, etc...

I'd rather keep Mainoo over Nacho if we must generate funds, but I'm a bit worried Amorim is considering selling both.
