Khran looked weak because her partner is weak. Wensing's already better than Bartusiak. Put Bartusiak back in the U-19's and she'd get smoked. Repeatedly too. Peter is Wensing's only obstacle right now, but like you I wouldn't be surprised to see her jump up early like Popp, Kulig, and Schmidt. I thought Rosler was a winger who was shoved up top due to Mbabi saving her self for the national team. Thanks to the DFB, I managed to see Rosler play as a winger versus Potsdam, a genuine top defensive team. Rosler terrorized Potsdam the whole game. I personally think she's Garefrekes long term replacement. Malinowski like most of the footballing girls around the world of all ages, always come across as decent people on TV. Like most players when they cross that white line though, they can turn into very different people. What's up with this Nati chick, she do something stupid?
I think she is a little bit stupid. She had problems in school, I think she didn't get her high school diploma.
No, just "teenage girl who has only football and boys in her head" stupid. These girls often miss school, because of the youth national teams and she probably isn't the type to easily catch up on the subject matter she missed.
I hope you are happy now. Great match by Germany, finally they converted all those chances. Really convincing match, however after the first half one expected a very close match. But after Schmids goal Norway broke down and Germany decided the game in a few minutes. Congratulate the German team. They did great and I am looking forward to see them in the U-20 world cup and hopefully some of them make the senior national team. Oh, and Eurosport 1 will show a recording of the match on monday 12:15 CEST and 18:15 CEST.

@ Lusankya: i was sure germany will have won the cup even if i didn't saw them play until the final......but WHAT A TEAM!!!!.....norway is more 11 individuals than a real team....so not surpise by their defeat , germany-italy will have been a better final for sure. Talking about germany , they are so beautiful to watch, great players (some stars in the making)great organisation, very well coached......i didn't knew their coach staff included many ex-players (i recognised meinert and rottenberg)...is great to see ex-international staying on the books of the federation after ending their careers....i know france and italy are coached (from the NT to the juniors...) only by men who in some cases weren't even footballers......not a single ex-players have been hired by the federation....such a shame... Anyway best player of the tournament IMO is carolin simon...WHAT A PLAYER.......even if i saw her play just one time, it was easy to see how she was just another category from all the others players of the tournament......one or two years form now and she will be the left back of the NT no doubt about it.
I don't say male coaches can't be good (look at Turbine Potsdam with Bernd Schröder), but they should be really good coaches with a devotion to women's football. For the (youth) national teams it's probably indeed better when former (female) internationals train them. They just have the experience no man can have. I think there are many great players and Simon belongs to them. Wensing probably has the best shot at getting an early nomination for the senior team, because we are in desperate need for a good CB. Simon or Petzelberger have far more competition on their position so it might take a while before they get nominated. Among the other teams... I think we will see more of Melissa Bjånesøy, Cora Canetta and Katia Coppola.
As we speak UEFA published an article about "Ten to watch from Women's U19 finals in Italy". They don't mention Carolin Simon though. Mentioned are Petzelsberger, Wensing and Schmid of Germany, Küffer and Fimian of Switzerland, Thorisdottir and Bjanesoy of Norway, Coppola and Rosucci of Italy and Wullaert of Belgium. They also used the best looking pictures of the players they could find. Source: http://www.uefa.com/womensunder19/news/newsid=1640844.html#ten+watch+from+womens+u19+finals+italy Edit These descriptions are great. About Luisa Wensing: "The pitch was not the only place the FCR Duisburg 2001 starlet inspired terror: she had a similar lack of clemency with a table tennis bat in her hand."
When i say carolin simon was the best player of the tournament i was talking more on potential than on how she actually played durring the euro.......by potential i mean...in 2006 i watched the final between france (with delie and pizzala) and germany (with the kerschowski, nadine kessler and bajramaj) even if mira bajramaj disappeared sometimes during the match but you could easily see she had a superb technique her ball controls, skills, touch were unique....player of that match was monique kerschowski for me, but bajramaj showed what i call a superstar potential.......and during the final carolin simon showed the same thing for me , a star in the making more than anyone on the pitch....that's why i call her best player of the tournament even if she isn't really.....
Simon was one of the top performers in Germany's highly talented New Zealand U-17 WWC squad too, she's no fluke. It's a shame you couldn't include Malinowski and Rosler in the player of the tournament list too. Neither of those players made the final due to injury, but their level of play is usually clearly above the others in their age bracket. Norway have nice individuals that should go on to be top players with the seniors, but as a team they were way behind Germany. Even though it's seen as a top women's football nation, Norway usually look weak at youth levels as a unit. The top individual talents go on to become better all round players within the more organised senior team system later down the line. Any shouts for Lotzen to be another Popp in a few years? Lotzen for me has a very direct robust style, similar to Popp. Like Popp, Lotzen is a winger/forward that seem's to cause all kinds of problems for the opposition. At 17, having such an important role within the U-19 pool should say a lot about how she's being viewed in the future plans of the German women's program. Beyond Germany, let's see if Italy, Switzerland, and Norway, can do better than Europe's last awful U-20 WWC showing.
Yeah, she was quite unobtrusive. I followed the German team through that tournament but didn't make a note of her (she played all 6 matches full time). Well players like Kemme, Marozsan, Popp or Knaak took my attention. I think it was Kemme who missed the sitter against the USA. Unless Malinowski gets a mental breakdown she will play the U-20 world cup (and the U-19 EURO next year). Rolser will have her comeback too. She is very fast and that's so useful in the women's game as most of them are rather slow. Yep, teamwork and even the whole build up of their attacks were non existant. Actually I would like to see their other matches, how they played against Spain, Netherlands and Italy. Lotzen surely is a hot prospect. The problem is that she knows that she is very talented and sometimes does fancy stuff instead of a simple pass. But it gets better compared to her performances for the U-17 national team. Actually all U-20 WWCs were awful for Europe. Besides Germany only France reached the semifinals one time. I think Italy could have a quite good generation, but I still don't trust Switzerland.
When you consider that whole generation was maybe the best assembled by Germany so far, missing out on spotting Simon is not that bad. I never disputed Malinowski's ability, I just think she needs to work on her talent for going missing when things get tough. Rosler's speed is all relative. Marta is like an Olympic sprinter over the first 40 to 60 meters. Marta now regularly meets defenders that can keep up with her if not beat her to the ball. Rosler still lacks Marta's power right now when playing at a senior level, so her quickness doesn't really get her that far in a serious sprint versus national players. Versus the average U-19 player she would look Marta quick, and down the line with a little work I could see her dominating games at a senior level in the same fashion. I read Italy out played them, and the goals they scored were from serious Italian mistakes. Your appraisal of Lotzen's present game sound's just like the Popp of a few years ago to me. Popp made her big leap forward when she got seriously fit, streamlining her game in the process. Lotzen at 17 is probably ahead of where Popp was at the same age. Damn . Europe are worse than I realised at U-20 WWC level. I don't see much reason to expect anything better than the last showing from Switzerland either. Without doing too much at the U-20 WC's England and France have progressed significantly at senior level based on U-19 euro success. So we should probably expect the same and no more from Switzerland.
The berth allocation is also strange. Europe is quite good at the U-17 tournaments and they got a decrease in berths after the U-17 WWC 2008. Do we really need 3 African and 3 South American teams at the U-17 WWC? The third African team got a 10-1 beating from Germany and the second African team was eliminated after the group stage. Two out of three South American teams were eliminated. It was even worse for North American teams, but they only have 2 spots anyway und the third team was the host. Any news on the allocation for the 2012 U-17 WWC? I think CAF and CONMEBOL should each lose a spot and UEFA and AFC should gain one. AFC: 4 UEFA: 4 CAF: 2 CONMEBOL: 2 CONCACAF: 2 OFC: 1 Host: 1 Seriously, how could Conmebol keep 3 spots? 6 Teams qualified over two tournaments. 4 teams finishes dead last in their group (zero wins combined), 1 finished third with a win against New Zealand and one (Brazil) finished second in a group.
@ batfink , don't know much about malinowski and rosler to judge them ......but if they are better than simon (potentialy ) good for germany....... By the way i will put norway's hansen in the same case than simon.....she wasn't a starter, she wasn't in the uefa best 10 but everytime she came on she changed the game.......she is the main reason (stupid mistakes apart) norway beat italy in the semi-final......and she is born in 1995 so 2-3 years younger than anyone else in the pitch. ps: did you know a german defender called ferrari ?
sorry iher name is martini not ferrari....i don't know why ferrari came up to my mind.....I think she was playing at one germany juniors team some years ago.
Ah, that's another story. I know a Vanessa Martini who plays for SG Essen-Schönebeck. She is now listed as a midfielder (and is already 21). http://www.framba.de/content/index....iew=article&id=775:vanessa-martini&Itemid=444

A short reminder: In 8 days (28.07.) the two semifinals of the U-17s will take place. Eurosport will broadcast both matches. 14:00 CEST Iceland - Spain 18:00 CEST Germany - France
Spain up by 3 at halftime, they completely dominated but all the goals were scored after comical mistakes by the Iceland keeper. Even by women's standards that was a shocking performance. edit: make that four goals after goalkeeper errors...
