In the first result of the weekend Fortuna Hjorring defeated Arsenal 3-1 in the first leg with goals from Australians Sharon Black and Alison Forman and Danish international and Christina Bonde. Angela Banks scored in the 68th minute to give Arsenal a lifeline. Here's an article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/2921033.stm Here's the article from the Arsenal's site: http://www.arsenal.com/sportsappcon...orwardOnly&nextPage=/ladies/gm27_fortunaa.jsp Here's the article from Fortuna Hjorring's site(English section) with a photo of Bonde!!! http://www.fortuna-dbk.dk/engelsk/Elite/article06.html Tomorrow, Umeå IK will play FFC Frankfurt.
My mistake. The Fortuna Hjorring article is a pre-match one. I could have sworn that I read an article about the match in English on this site. Anyway, the site looks like it was having a little bit of trouble so maybe I'm not going crazy. Anyway, this game was on TV in Denmark.
Umeå IK - FFC Frankfurt 1:1 0:1 Pia Wunderlich (5') (Might also be an own goal from Sofia Lundgren) 1:1 Maria Nordbrandt (64')
Second leg April 27: Frankfurt - Umeå 1:1, 2:2 agregate, Umeå wins on penaltys (7:8) Arsenal - Fortuna Hjörring 1:5, agregate 2:8
Bravi to Umeå for beating the champs. I guess Frankfurt could have used one or two players from last year's team. Anyway, good for them. And go Fortuna Hjörring. I have to say that that is a surprising score. Here's a link to a report on Fortuna Hjörring's victory over Arsenal. http://www.arsenal.com/sportsappcon...e&type=com.sportapps.news.NewsItem&id=3782332
Apparently, that link doesn't work anymore. Here's the new one: http://www.arsenal.com/sportsappcon...orwardOnly&nextPage=/ladies/gm32_fortunah.jsp
