    Re: UEFA Women's Cup 2005/06

Thank you. :) I'm still not feeling 100%. But to answer your question of where I found the results I posted on the first matchday, I actually went to as many different team sites I could get to (thanks to SteinL's helpful club list above). Then I went to the www.foot-feminin.org link I saw someone posted (Sabes, I think) and credited it as the source, even though the link I posted goes elsewhere now. I rarely ever just cut and paste info and have no intention of trying to take away from the great women's football sites out there. Rather, I feel this sort of discussion helps publicize them. Now I know to check SteinL's site as well. :)

    Re: UEFA Women's Cup 2005/06

    Hello everybody,

the results of the last day of the first round.

Today, it was more difficult to find results, probably because it is saturday so I have not found for the moment two results and I have found results of the group 9 with the help of a French referee which is in this group. All solutions are good to obtain information !

    Group 1 :
    Massamá (Campo Real Sport Club)
    SU 1° Dezembro - Montpellier HSC : 0-1 (0-0)
    Virginie FAISANDIER 72'

    Cacém (Campo Atlético Cacém)
Cardiff City LFC - Glentoran Belfast LFC : unknown

    Montpellier HSC (FRA) 3 3 0 0 11 0 9
    Sociedad União 1° Dezembro (POR) 3 2 0 1 10 1 6
    Cardiff City LFC (GAL) 2 0 0 2 0 5 0
    Glentoran Belfast United (IDN) 2 0 0 2 0 15 0

=> Short victory in the last game for French Champions but apparently French was better

    Group 2
    Zagreb (Hitrec-Kacijan)
    Poliplast Bardolino - SV Neulengbach : 0-0
Red card : Just 90+1' pour Neulengbach

    Zagreb (Maksimir)
    ŽNK Maksimir - UCD Dublin : 0-2

    SV Neulengbach (AUT) 3 2 1 0 10 2 7
    Poliplast Bardolino (ITA) 3 2 1 0 5 0 7
    University College Dublin WFC (IRL) 3 1 0 2 3 7 3
    ŽNK Maksimir (CRO) 3 0 0 3 1 10 0

=> A little surprise because Italy was good players (but it is not the year of Italian teams after Euro 2005).

    Group 3

    Zeist (Sportpark van Saestum)
    Athletic Bilbao - sv Saestum : 1-1 (0-0)
GURUTXE Fernández Callejo 90+5' ; Manon VAN DEN BOOGAARD 90+3'

    Zeist (Sportpark Noordweg)
    Glasgow City - KFC Rapide Wezemaal : 1-5 (0-2)
    Diana BARRY 80' ; Femke MAES 11', Karen MEEUS 33', Kristien ELSEN 78', 79', Kristel VERELST 86'

    sv Saestum (PBA) 3 2 1 0 10 2 7
    Athletic Bilbao (ESP) 3 2 1 0 10 3 7
    KFC Rapide Wezemaal (BEL) 3 1 0 2 6 6 3
    Glasgow City LFC (ECO) 3 0 0 3 3 18 0

=> Spanish are out and Saestum win the group with a better goal difference (only one goal more than Bilbao) !

    Group 4

    Valur Reykjavik (ISL) 3 3 0 0 14 3 9

    FC United (FIN) 3 1 0 2 5 5 3

=> Third winning game by Valur. Good Icelandic team and norway are out !

    ZFK Škiponjat (MAC) 3 0 1 2 2 12 0

=> Swiss are winners in a group apparently weak but wait for the next round to see the level of LUwin.ch

Good to see KI Klaskvik at least pick up one point in Macedonia. It is always a struggle for Faroese women teams in the UEFA Cup.

Earlier in the thread, someone posted a link to the KI website, but the women actually have one of their own (for those who are interested).

WELL. If this was to be their fate, this makes me feel a little bit better about Italy's Bardolino going out to Neulengbach in the preliminary round via goal difference. OTOH, it just shows the gulf that often exists even at the (supposedly) top ranks of the European game.

    Arsenal's 2nd Game[R]

    Early Report on 1-0 win

    Remarks by Akers

Being down a player (and that your best player) for the last 59 minutes, losing your captain to injury, the team did well to hold on for the win!

FFC Frankfurt - Sparta Praha 1-1
    Luwin.ch - Gömrükçü Baku 5-0
Surprising result by Sparta, but Frankfurt will probably win the group quite easy anyway by beating Gomrucku in the third match. Sparta and Luwin meets in the third match and plays for the second quarter-final spot.

    Group 4:
    Arsenal - Lada Togliatti 1-0
    AZS Wroclaw - Brøndby 1-3
Arsenal and Brøndby have both 6 points, and are in the quarter-final. They meet in the last match to decide the group winner.

I am very grateful for that, Djurgården/Älvsjö is so out of form that I was seriously worried they would embarrass Swedish Women Football by being knocked out of the Cup by a non-German team. But 2-0 away should make them sure to reach the Semis where they probably will be trashed by Potsdam.

Second leg FFC Frankfurt v Arsenal will be live on "hr-fernsehen" at 2:30pm local time. The channel is FTA, so Europeans with a sat dish can turn it to 19.2 E (Astra), transponder 11836H. Have fun!

Frankfurt is through to the semis after a win at home against Arsenal.
Arsenal got the lead, but Frankfurt came back with a little help of a penalty on a pretty stupid defense effort by the Arsenal defender against Garefrekes (very obvious shirt pulling). Garefrekes was also responsible for the best goal of the evening with a nice distance shot.
Poor Arsenal's Ludlow had to leave in the 1st half after a head to head collision with Jones that looked like it could result in some major headache :( .
Overall Lingor could be considered POM imo.

Is there any reason mentioned in Sweden why they are so out of form? Haven't read much about that on the internet media.

Nor really, but I very much suspect it has to do with them losing the coach, who brought them to two Swedish Championship, to the WNT.
