A beautiful goal from Kumagai. I know I've been hard on her, but she's been overall pretty good this tournament now that I've got the feeling that she's got more competition against the likes of Henry/Gunnarsdottir/Fishlock

And to think that this wonderful generation of French players haven't won an international trophy yet
and all the French players are speedy for some reason + technically very good

I just think they need better midfielders to help out Henry

    Definitely.

She will be Wolfsburg's players nightmare when they'll uselessly try to sleep, later this night.

(or are they sleeping already and having nightmares of her? :p).

I'd say bring in Oberdorf as a joker and move Popp further up the pitch

Wolfsburg's defense carried their less than great form from the second half of the Barcelona match into the first half of this final. The difference is Lyon have been able to finish chances.

Cascarino finally stepping up. She looked like the next Marta based on her 2016 u20 WC performance. After a slow start, she might just be reaching that peak!

Cascarino is even great when coming back in defense, anticipating Harder (or some other Wolfsburg's fast blonde)! :x3: Impressing!!!

Cascarino is really looking more and more like the best Marta. Wolfsburg players have to triplicate on her, and they don't even manage to stop her this way!

Engen touched the ball in OL's box at 54' and I realized she's on the pitch: not the best game ever for her so far.

Good cross from the left by Rölfo: Bouhaddi spills the ball, Pajor centers it for Popp who scores on an open goal with an header.

2-1, we have a game! Good! I root for OL but I want to be entertained and excited. :)

60', Oberdorf and Wolter in, Pajor and Huth out (@hotjam2 should be happy).

Oberdorf to the rescue! But why Wolter subbed in instead of Bremer?

I must admit Bouhaddi's distribution with her feet is really flawless! This is an important factor for OL.

Head to head clash between Bouhaddi on Rölfo on a CK action. The game stops for some minutes. Meanwhile, super-sub Van De Sanden is ready to be subbed-in.

In a previous final she slaughtered Wolfsburg's when subbed-in late in the game.

And, at 86' Maroszan and Cascarino out, Van de Sanden and Taylor in.

And at 88', from CK action, a Le Sommer's shot is deflected into goal by Sara Bjork Gunnarsdottir.

    3-1 and game. :coffee:

Greenwood replaces Le Sommer at 90'+3' to waste time. Also, Malard for Majri soon after.

I feel bad for these Wolfsburg players who have lost three finals against Lyon...

Tonight Lyon is certainly the better team. But Wolfsburg has to blame themselves. They played a laid back, driveless game for 1 1/2 matches without defending properly or counter attacking precisely. Not a fan of Larch's selection and tactics either. Wolfsburg started looking dangerous once Popp was upfront, Harder could start her runs from a bit deeper position ... and Oberdorf as young as she might be has more guts and creativity than anyone in a green shirt (safe Harder in form).

Congratz to Lyon. Not a stellar showing but you have to take your chances. Something PSG and Barca still have to learn.
