And it looks amazing. The gold numbers even stand out more on the shirt. The sharpest we've ever looked, now to play like we look.
One of the worst first halves in recent memory. May be the nerves but we are basically chasing the game. Only near the end of the half did the players realize Spain's high press left them vulnerable to long balls (shocker) and we finally got into their box a few times. Ruben Semedo is a liability but shows glimpse's of great play. Andre Silva MIA The midfield, slow and can't string passes together.
2 crossbars, a point blank save, and Failix messing up a sitter and a half. Spain controlled the game but we had way more opportunities to win. Jota is impressive and I'd still like to hear how Felix is on his level.
Renato Sanches gets the start and plays 90 minutes despite being a complete bust, yet the best young LB in Portugal doesn't get a call-up. F*ck this selecao and their Lampiao love affair. They deserve the failure.
I could be wrong, but I believe that Santos does not let that feminine type clubismo bitchness effect his selections, and, this selecao hardly knows failure at all in the past 6 years.
It was a friendly, FS uses those well for tinkering. I though Rúben Semedo showed a lots of promise (I would of bought him after the Spain affair), Trincão showed some good touches but lost the ball too much, André Silva was non-existent but most people had a bad first half (he only played the first half), Neves and William looked ok, so did the Dias-Semedo CB partnership, Jota did plenty in little time...very interesting game...Framce vs Portugal Sunday 19h45 (PT)
Did you feel that way in 2016 when so much of the team was from Sporting? And I didn’t say that I can say for sure, but just that I doubt Santos has that feminine quality of emotion ruling over logic. He has his flaws, but he doesn’t strike me as a bitch.
You're definitely wrong. What the f*ck has Sanches done? Same sh*t with Felix. Dude is a massive flop, but somehow, got an instant call-up to the national team after his only season as a senior player with Benfica. There are lots of examples: Nelson Semedo (was absolute ass at Barcelona), Pizzi, etc. Santos is a Lampiao, it makes sense. But Sequeira at LB? Over Nuno Mendes? Laughable.
Oh trust me, he would've loved to include more SLB players, but barely any of them were Portuguese, nor were they good enough to start for the team. Sanches faded out and was useless after the Poland game. Santos would've loved to keep starting him if he could.
Spain killed us in the first half up until about the last 12 or so minutes. Sanches is not good enough at this level and has stagnated. Neves struggled as well under their press, he really needs to move to a higher level or else he might stagnate as well...moutinho is still the better all round midfielder than him right now. Second half with the substitutions at half we improved and were better, should have won. We have a squad of 14/15 players deep that can rival anyone in the world right now, Santos better not screw up the next couple tournaments.
Nuno Mendes is 18 and is just starting out his career, he has plenty of time to play for the senior team..the u21's have a massive game vs Norway and it's better he's there instead of riding the bench for the selecao. Let him gain some more experience and maturity. No doubt in my mind that he'll be called up in the Spring time.
As far as I remember, Santos dropped Sanches for almost 3 years from the national team, and, it’s not only he or the equally emotional Benfica fans that heralded his season last year, it was a general worldwide consensus that he was back on track and had a strong turnaround to his game. The point is, Santos had no problem keeping him off the squad when he was really struggling. Rafa and Pizzi are both guys who have never fully established themselves as guaranteed callous in Santos’ era, and they would have if there was any merit at all to what you guys are saying. Look, I get the clubismo amongst fans, but I’m always going to call you guys out on it. From all 3 of the big clubs. If you guys bring that emotional rather than logical analysis about our national team, I will always call it like I see it. I hate, I loath Manchester United, but how much of a piece of crap would I have to be to wish Bruno Fernandes doesn’t become the best he could be?
