‘but with all due respect, this is a group that we should cake walk’ Was one of the first comments during the match. We should qualify, but its by no means a cake walk
I think you’re missing the point dude. My comment was more condemnation of our club than anything to do with our opponent. We’re the 3rd biggest club in Portugal. That should mean something, in this group, in this competition. But it doesn’t because we historically shit ourselves. It can be frustrating, Sporting is a club that, in my opinion, in a group like this, we should feel confident, but I never do, not without delusion. And that’s how I felt after a nothing half and then going down 1 when I posted that. ‘Here we go again’. Glad we pulled out the win, but it just constantly feels like we’re slipping further and further from where we should be on this stage.
Difficult start, Atalanta have been on top and we're finding it difficult to handle their midfield and create anything.
Nothing to say, clear superiority from Atalanta. Fresneda having a rough game, maybe that's why Esgaio has been picked so much.
Gasperini > Amorim. There's no question. Amorim wanted a thin squad, so he offloaded players like Matheus Fernandes, Chermiti, Fatawu, etc. And this is the result: playing tired players who have no business playing this game. Pote, Paulinho, all terrible.
Yup, but dude only has a left foot. Can't do sh*t on the left side of the field if he's not crossing the call. Period.
First loss of the season. Good reaction near the end but that first half put the result to bed. Tactically outclassed. We'll probably end up finishing 2nd and have to play an extra round of playoffs in the knockouts.
It's seriously time to consider benching Pote for awhile. Dude is not only the worst player on the field lately, but he's a flat out detriment to this team at this point. I don't think he completed a single pass today. Horrendous performance. And Amorim keeps him in all game and doesn't Braganca in until the 88th minute. Love Sportingistas who try to tell me he's a world class manager. He just got out coached by a world class manager.
Starting XI away at Rakow SPORTING: Franco Israel; Diomande, Coates, Inácio; Esgaio, Morita, Hjulmand, Matheus Reis; Edwards, Pote, Gyökeres.
