Of course, Rice and Mount are great mates so maybe that might help? Sometimes personal relationships can help as players are determined to try and cover for each other but, y'know... you can't just have people playing because their mates are. They have to be on the pitch because they're good enough to be there.
This whole back 3 idea of Walker-Stones-Shaw seems very convoluted - and an admission he's got his squad hopelessly wrong Is it any more of a gamble than just going with White and Stones in a 2? I'd go: Pickford Walker-Stones-White-Shaw Rice-Phillips Foden-Mount-Sterling Kane Any back 3 is just too much of a waste of our areas of strength, with potentially just 2 of Mount, Foden, Grealish, Sterling, Rashford, Sancho featuring - with the massive likelihood he wouldn't risk Mount in the midfield 2 And a back 3 with 2 full-backs playing the wider roles looks superficially attractive, but seems a bit clever by half and doesn't put our best foot forward
Southgate has had two years to find a CB pairing but he's messed about with Keane and mings for far too long. I'd go for white and stones, if it is a back 3 (I hope not as I think Southgate will play with two DMs) it can't be two fullbacks in the 3. Tomori would have been a great shout
To be honest a back 3 would allow mount to play as well as foden and Graelish in free roles but I personally prefer a 4231 ………….Kane …..graelish……foden ………mount….rice Chill…………::::::……Walker …….mings…coady…stones ………………Pickford it isn’t bad imo but it’s obviously better vs better sides when we expect to counter also, tomori should be in the squad. He’s bette than mings
He did quite well for Dortmund throughout the season and in the Champions League. Why can't he handle so called "lesser competition" in a tournament for his country?
Welcome to the conversation that we've been talking about for over 6 months lol. I can live with Germany or Portugal since they're kind of defensive minded. As I've said, France scares the daylights out of me since they're solid in every position.
Your first point is laughably stupid... the police literally have recruitment days that are only open to BAME candidates. Secondly, you keep mentioning skin tone... you obviously have a problem with white people. ‘Red faced’ is a cheap dig at white people and you know it. ..........are all cheap racial digs... don’t sink to that level.
I’m just going to continue to get reports if people are making these slur comparisons. @TopBanana10 & @thebigman I’ve slightly edited both of your last posts so it doesn’t attract any more reactions from others reading. Time to move on from this gammon slur debate. Both made your stances on the issue known by now.
Anyone else get the impression that this is an unusually happy England camp? I keep catching inconsequential little videos like this one and they all just seem remarkably happy and relaxed. Maybe it's always like this beforehand and I've just forgotten...
If nothing else Southgate has done an excellent job of getting the mentality right in the squad, which shouldn't be underestimated given what went before him.
Southgate has done very well in this area but also the work we’ve done at youth level and having SGP as a hub has to really help. It’s just so much easier to build something of collective meaning.
The players just seem to love being there... look at Grealish’s reaction when asked and the way they set up his room. Love the way Trippier and Foden vibe here.
Croatia forward Ante Rebic admits he was 'SURPRISED' Gareth Southgate left Fikayo Tomori out of his England squad | @Jack_Gaughan https://t.co/nrwNqjPQ3I— Mail Sport (@MailSport) June 9, 2021 I see what Gareth is trying to do here, he’s trying to lure the opposition into a false sense of security that we have better centre half’s than Tomori so they go into the first game fearing our centre half’s. Could be a genius move . On a serious note though, I do agree with Rebic, he should have been called up in my opinion for the reasons he stated.
I wasn't surprised but I do think it looks increasingly like a mistake. Tomori isn't perfect but he is, if nothing else, a good defender on the left side of a centre-back pairing. We could have swapped him in for Maguire quite easily and avoided the need for all these conversations about system changes and convoluted line-ups.
Does anyone know if the England team were offered vaccines like the Dutch team was? Has to be a big worry what with cases rising in the UK again, and likely to be very high through the tournament.
Doesn't sound like it. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/...ush-for-covid-jabs-euro-2020-finals-dbtvhtrb9
