Some interesting stats and facts about Euro (source: Opta):

5 - As well as being the joint top scorer in European Championship history, Michel Platini scored the most winning goals of any player in the competition (5). Crucial. #AskOpta

2000 - Since 1980, the most fouls won and conceded at a single tournament was at Euro 2000, with Italy conceding a record 138 fouls and France winning a record 141. Feisty. #AskOpta

2 - Since 1980 there have been two Euros goals assisted by goalkeepers, and they came eight days apart - Thomas Myhre for Norway vs Spain, and Sander Westerveld for Netherlands vs France, both at Euro 2000. Ping. #AskOpta

593 - Since 1980, the record for most successful passes in a single edition of the Euros is 593, by Toni Kroos in 2016. Accurate. #AskOpta

12 - Since 1980, the record for most dribbles completed by a player in a single match at the Euros is 12, by Eden Hazard against Hungary in 2016. Drifting. #AskOpta

19 - Italy have kept more clean sheets than any other nation in the European Championship. Persil. #AskOpta

57 - Since 1980 (when full data is available), Luís Figo has completed more dribbles than any other player at the European Championship. Breeze. #AskOpta

Also Opta rate Denmark has higher chance to win Euro than England. Back in 2018 World Cup it was Japan.
Their favourite to win is France, followed by Belgium and Spain.

Italy last lost is...2018. Back in 2000 Euro, they also faced Turkey in the group stage. They would go on to play the final and only lost to Trezegue's golden goal (we may see it in upcoming years:thumbsdown:).

I honestly don't see how Spain is near the top of favorites.

^ No spoilers please. Some of us are prioritizing the football, although one couldn't imagine a worse opener.

Will be a 1-nil result, just not sure who gets the penalty.

PS Turkey suck! Like really bad. Then again I predicted they'd finish last in this group.

oh my heart, i'm still shaking. i was born across the street from Parken Stadium, in the same hospital Eriksen is in now. my dad grew up in that neighbourhood. the first football match i ever watched (on TV) when i was 11, was the Denmark vs Germany Euro'92 final. i completely fell in love with the game that day and have been hooked ever since. but this isn't the same game that i fell in love with anymore. Capitalism is ********ing killing football ... and the planet. ******** UEFA. ******** FIFA. ******** the sponsors. RIP football. i don't know if i can keep watching any of this at this point i'm so mad. i need to go for a walk and calm down...

One of the most dramatic games in my lifetime. I was sure at the moment the Danish captain was hugging Eriksen's wife he was announced as dead. But resurrection then happened through twitter, which was like 30 min ahead of Finnish broadcast. And there sure was an emotional rollercoaster going on.

As for the result I can't be more extatic, I actually think we deserved the win after the bs penalty call that happened in second half. One of the worst, and most obvious "make headline" calls in history of football. Lucky to have Hradecky on goal on that one. 22-1 on goal chances, next up Russia.
