Hail, Hail Zimbru Chisinau!!! Now if THIS doesn't bring our old friend Shurik out of the woodwork, nothing will!! http://www.uefa.com/competitions/UEFACup/News/Kind=128/newsId=30262.html Goteborg stunned by Zimbru A first-half scoring spree from Viorel Frunza and Levan Gvazava inspired Moldovan side FC Zimbru Chisinau to a 3-1 win against IFK Göteborg for one of the most eye-catching results from the first-leg matches in the UEFA Cup qualifying round. Now for the away leg....gulp.
tredowski, who knows? I suspect metros11 will be around more with the Euro qualifiers; Shurik I'm not sure of. He's been awfully busy, last I heard, and may have lost interest and/or been a bit disheartened with the BS charsh -- he had some excellent threads that took a long time to construct (Eastern European Fashion Review, Russian Premier League Guide) that are gone forever, it seems. I CANNOT BELIEVE he has not been on here to celebrate the success of his Moldovan lads: http://www.uefa.com/competitions/UEFACup/news/Kind=128/newsId=31640.html IFK Göteborg 2-2 FC Zimbru Chisinau (Zimbru win 5-3 on aggregate) Two goals in three minutes condemned IFK Göteborg to a shock defeat by 10-man Moldovan side FC Zimbru Chisinau - denying the former UEFA Cup winners a place in the competition. As expected, Zenit clobbered FC Encamp: http://www.uefa.com/competitions/UEFACup/FixturesResults/Round=1625/Match=69707/index.html FC Zenit St. Petersburg 8-0 FC Encamp Dicoansa (Zenit win 13-0 on aggregate) FC Zenit St. Petersburg showed no mercy for FC Encamp Dicoansa tonight with a convincing home victory against the Andorran side.

Not a bad draw for Zenit, getting Grasshoppers (insert David Carradine joke here). Zimbru has it a little tougher against Real Betis. http://www.uefa.com/competitions/UEFACup/news/Kind=1/newsId=31924.html
Yeah, Steve, could have been a LOT worse.....I like having the home leg last in this matchup. CSKA Moscow gets Parma, Dinamo Tblisi gets Slovan Liberec, Zimbru gets Real Betis, Shaktar Donetsk gers Austria Wien, Metalurg Zaporizhzhya gets Leeds (ouch), Ventspils gets VfB Stuttgart, Metalurg Donetsk gets Werder Bremen, Suduva gets Celtic (ouch again), Gomel gets Schalke 04. Shaktar should go through, I like CSKA's chances against Parma, Dinamo Tblisi has a good chance. Zimbru, of course, is this year's Hapoel Tel Aviv and will wax real Betis, and Zenit will clean up on the Swiss.
Dynamo - CSKA (R) .. results and info.... http://www.wspsoccer.com/news/?page=details&area=1031761800
Only Shakhter goes through . Zimbru - Betis should cause some ticket excitement , for the dilapidated , almost condemned Respublikanskii Stadium . Capacity 8,400 , formerly 21,000 ; in the city of 650,000 formerly 1,000,000.
