It should be noted that Englishref guessed this weeks ago. Awhile ago I said that my top 5 for the UCL Final were: Medina Cantalejo Rossetti Michel De Bleeckere Busacca Busacca is now out. De Bleeckere is out as he had a semi. And Rossetti is out because Milan is in the Final. I think--but am not sure--Medina Cantalejo is out because a fellow Spaniard got a semi. If so, I don't know how anyone other than Michel gets the UCL Final. We'll know in a week or so.
Yep, I'm really glad that he got it, as he is, IMO, Europe's best referee at the moment. He referees games very sensibly, uses man-management, is extremely fit, and doesn't go around flashing cards for minor tackles, which is refreshing to see from a foreign referee. And I agree, it looks nailed on to be Lubos Michel's UCL final this season, and much deserved it will be.
Kudos to my 2nd favorite active referee in the world. Now, if Lubos would just get the call, we'd have ourselves 2 great finals. On a side note, does anyone know if the Cup final will be broadcast in the US? ESPN2 does the Champions League final, but Cup seems to be not prestigious enough for them.
Actually it is being shown on FSC live Wed. 5/16 at 1:30 central. I believe you are thinking of the Champions League Final which is on ESPN2 the following Wed. 5/23.
Very cool, Busacca is one of my favorite referee's. He's firm but does a great job of communicating and doesn't jump to quickly to cards in my book. Of all the centers I've seen in this season's UEFA, I think he's done the best job. Looks like the assignors agree.
Ah yes, I was looking up both of them and mixed it up, sorry, my bad. In a way I'm glad I'm home sick forever so I can watch the matches.
