As much as I appreciate FSW for being so devoted to airing soccer, I am extremely disappointed in how they handled the Celtic v Porto re-broadcast last night. Rather than continue the match in added time, they stayed on schedule to show the FSW Report at 10pm ET. Who makes this decision? I reallize it was a re-broadcast, but to not show the extra time in such a huge match is ridiculous. Had I known this would have happened I would made sure the live airing was taped. Maybe I assumed too much, but I thought a UEFA Cup final would be shown in it's entirety - what's the point of re-broadcasting it at all.
Now you know to tape the live match instead. It is standard procedure to have a rebroadcasted sporting event cut so it will fit into the time slot without affecting the following shows.This is normal for FSW to do it this way.Whenever soccer gets big enough in America that sponsors will pay for the 1/2 hour post game interviews or analysis,then maybe you'll see the whole game in it's entirety on a rebroadcast.Until then,my only advice is to record the live feed if you want the whole experience. FSW rules but they still do have some limitations. PEACE
I was cheesed off as well. My taping of the original was fouled, 4 hours of blank screen. So I taped the 3am (est) show. They've skipped extra time before, and shown the penalties. They've joined second halves late to show the extra time in rebroadcasts. Why couldn't they have "moved forward" at about 75 minutes to show us the second extra time period and the celebration? Make sure you send FSW a comment. Below is mine. "Thanks for not showing the extra time during your 3am (est) replay of the UEFA Cup final Thursday morning. I find it highly unnecessary to invest 2 hours of my life in a game to actually see a result during the run of play. Due to various reasons, I was unable to watch this game live or on your first replay. I consulted your web page for Fox Sports World and found that there was a 3am showing. I was able to avoid all results, but I did see a snippet about a streaker (which was never replayed, thanks for the tease). Much to my surprise, with the game tied at 2-2 after 90 minutes, your replay broadcast came back from commercials, showed the second half goals, the extra time goal and went to infomercial. This is scandalous. I want my two hours back, or at least could you show the extra time Friday afternoon? Enraged, Jay!"
I seem to remember the same sort of situation happening before and FSW cutting some time out of the first half and showing the total of the extra time. Oh well.
