Bit of a step-up in class, no?

    Portuguese league:

    1st FC Porto P 28 Pts 75 GD +40
    .
    .
    .
    12th Boavista P 28 Pts 32 GD -2

    Porto's UEFA cup results:

    4-1 aggregate v Lazio
2-1 aggregate v Panathinaikos (extra time needed)
    8-3 aggregate v Denizilspor
    3-1 aggregate v Lens
    3-0 aggregate v Austria Vienna
    6-2 aggregate v Polonia Warsaw

Also have to consider that the game is in Seville in late May, so the weather condition is not likely to favour Celtic, ;)

But it is just good for Celtic to be there, and hopefully Porto will miss Postiga a lot.

    :)

    2-1 aggregate v Boavista
    3-1 aggregate v Liverpool
    5-4 aggregate v Stuttgart
2-2 aggregate v Celta Vigo (away goal)
    3-0 aggregate v Blackburn Rovers
    10-1 aggregate v FC Suduva
Lost 2 games out of 12.
Weve played porto 3 times in the last 2 seasons alone, won 1 lost 1 in the champions league and the other was a bounce game in france porto won on a decidedly dodgy goal because the linesmen and ref consisted of their backroom staff as the real one never turned up.
Class opposition but I think we are up to it if we play well, if we dont we could be hammered, depends what celtic show up.
Agree with you about the weather though!

Celtic without a doubt had a much tougher road to the final going all the way back to Blackburn, especially if we a going to base the opposition on how they stand in their leagues. There's Blackburn (7th), Celta Vigo (5th), Stuttgart (2nd), Liverpool (5th) and Boavista (12th). Of course all of these teams with the exception of Boavista play in the top leagues in Europe.

Porto played a couple of top teams but they were from "2nd rate" countries if you will, except Lazio (4th). Other than that there's Panthinaikos (1st), Deporsomething (12th Turkey), Lens (11th), Austria Vienna (1st), Polonia Warsaw (7th).

While Celtic is the underdog, I see no reason why they can't take the cup. Like said before, it depends on what team shows up.

    please please beat Porto...
I know this isn't very patriotic and whatnot...but if the Rangers were in Celtic's position, wouldn't you say the same?

Postiga being out is a HUGE disadvantage for Porto. He is a youth talent they rely on quite a bit. Don't understimate this.

Also, Porto's big threat is Deco. Dont have to tell you about that I guess.

and just for the appropriateness (spelling...but im lazy) of the place, i just want to say Larsson is probably in my top 5 strikers. I hope he gets a hat-trick or somthing...

oh, and I would like to apologize for that dreadful display of dirty play that Boavista put on. Dirty play is a problem of the lower tier Portuguese teams, of which Boa used to belong (they havent shaken off that habit I guess). I think Porto will play fair and will attack.

    well, good luck!

Porto will play fair and they will surely attack and they will keep attacking. i'm not a Porto fan (i'm a Benfica fan) but Porto is an ofensive minded team, and they allways play to win, doesn't matter where. Porto players are very talented and if bolth teams are playing at their best, i think Porto will lift the cup.
Good luck though and yes that game with Boavista was pretty dirty. you guys deserved the win. I think justice was donne. bolth, Porto and Celtic deserved to be in the finals and let the best team win.

Given that both teams are attacking minded it will be an entertaining match!

I dont think Porto supporters will see it like that, if anyone slags them off next season they can always fall back on being last seasons Uefa cup finalists ;)

I think Mario isn't quite right on this one... no one is overrating Porto. The fact is, Porto are good, but not unbeatable, far from it. Is gonna be a hard fought game. Porto have better ball handling skils than Celtic and they are very confident, not arrogant, confident. Celtic has two very important things over Porto, and that is fighting spirit and resilience which they proved very well against Liverpool and Boavista.
