Robson Ponte is the attacking mid in Bayer's diamond. Berbatov is one of two strikers; the other being either Franca or Voronin.
Re: What's the Deal with Landon & Germany What is the address for any Leverkusen boards? Any in english?
Re: What's the Deal with Landon & Germany http://www.bayer04fans.com/forum/main.php Most Germans know English, so if you want to ask them a question, I'm sure you could get an answer.
Landon will challenge at attacking midfield and help out up front if their are injuries. With Franco and Berbatov up front, Bayer is going to be a real handful once Landon gets up to "speed" with his team. By the way, I don't understand why people keep saying Germany may not be the best match for Landon's game. With the influx of South Americans in the last couple of years, there is a lot of creativity and flair in the Bundesliga. Just as much as other European leagues...
Re: What's the Deal with Landon & Germany This board is better: http://www.werkself.de/index.php?sid=113bc6d7a4850942bf5677b7d4cde82b
Re: What's the Deal with Landon & Germany Wow, I can actually understand most of what's posted on those boards. My German must not be quite as bad as I thought. It seems they (the fans) don't quite know what to make of this yet. Will he fit in and where, etc.
Re: What's the Deal with Landon & Germany Yeah and they're also talking about how poorly Mathis has done.
Re: Yanks Abroad And USSoccerUK Report Donovan Back To Leverkusen Janurary 1st And now we have this: It Ain't Over Til the Fat Lady Sings
No offense, but what do you expect MLS to say? I mean, it's not a done deal yet, but he's likely not to stay unless something completely changes.
From a cold-hearted, Malcolm Glazer-like, money-luvin' American viewpoint why should MLS shell out big bucks to keep Donovan here? On the plus side, he may be the only attraction in SJ. On the minus side, he no longer attracts crowds on the away team. Freddy got the publicity and media attention and put butts in the seats last season. Chivas will get the publicity and media attention and put butts in the seats next season. Landon can't match these draws except among the few hundred BigSoccer cognoscenti.
You are sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo right. Have posted myself many a time.......only to be shouted at by the BS cognoscenti (nice word)
Re: What's the Deal with Landon & Germany The BL fans in that forum arent to high on the mls or as they call it american football league. I hope Donovan shuts them up about mls being a cup cake league.
Re: What's the Deal with Landon & Germany Just point them to this link that shows DMB as being in the Champions League team of the week and explain that LD is much better than him. Also, it might be nice to explain them that DMB was playing in MLS a few months ago.
To bad, they don't like MLS? Well... I don't care much for the Bunglessliga either! The only reason I even know Bayern's name is because of the ASPRIN!!! Ok in all seriousness I respect the Bundesliga and I would love to go to Germany for the World Cup, thanks!
Re: Yanks Abroad And USSoccerUK Report Donovan Back To Leverkusen Janurary 1st MLS just doesn't get it. Outside of a few Quake fans, nobody that watches MLS wants them to keep LD. We want to see how he does in Europe. The most fun anyone can have when watching MLS is trying to figure out who among the young players will have a shot at moving to Europe one day. We enjoy watching players develop and then move overseas. When one player leaves, we tune into the next MLS match and say, "Ok, who's next?" The free movement of players from MLS to Europe is what fuels the average MLS fan's desire to see how the league stacks up.
From another perspective: For a team on the verge of new ownership (yes, there are other potential local candidates besides Tony Amanpour) that'll have the team advertised/marketed for the first time ever and a new stadium in or near San Jose, even simply extending Donovan's stay in San Jose for two more years would be a huge factor in stabilizing the franchise. It'll provide the "face" for the eventual marketing campaign (finally) for a team that otherwise has none. Afterward, if Donovan and Leverkusen wish, he can then return to Germany at the ripe old age of 24. -G
