The Czechs almost got us now. The hope of the nation is on PSV now. Yesterday's points: Portugal: 0.250 (Porto) Greece: 0.333 (Panathinaikos) Netherlands: 0.000 Czech Rep: 0.500 (Sparta Praha) Turkey: 0.000 Scotland: 0.000 Standings after 9 December: 6.Portugal 38.083 (+5.668) --------------------- 7.Greece 34.415 (+2.000) 8.Netherlands 32.415 (0.000) --------------------- 9.Czech Rep. 32.325 (-0.090) (!!!!!!!) 10.Turkey 30.624 (-1.791) 11.Scotland 30.375 (-2.040) Hopefully both Czech teams will get drawn versus a very strong team and lose both there matches in the next round.
well psv got knocked out but they did pick up a big win before they went and of course they will now join the uefa cup - maybe they can get matched up with teplice and do a double on them
Yesterday's points: Greece: 0.167 (AEK) Netherlands: 0.333 (PSV) Turkey: 0.167 (Galatasaray) Scotland: 0.000 Standings after 10 December: 6.Portugal 38.083 (+5.335) 2 --------------------- 7.Greece 34.582 (+1.834) 1 8.Netherlands 32.748 (0.000) 1 --------------------- 9.Czech Rep. 32.325 (-0.423) 2 10.Turkey 30.791 (-1.957) 4 11.Scotland 30.375 (-2.373) 1 In red the number of teams that are still in competition after the winter break.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought UEFA only "looks" at these coefficients every TWO years?? In other words, NED will have 1 auto entry into CL and 1 qualifier next year as well, no matter what happens this season!? Then after the 2004/05 season UEFA will look at the coeffs again and determine the # of places for each country for the 2 years that follow (like they did after the 2002/03 season). And so on...
And since NED teams had a bad year (compared to Czech & Turkey) in 1999/2000 season, we should be in good shape still (since that season will no longer count towards the coefficient after this year). Essentially, NED will add 1.8 points to their lead on CZECH as soon as the 1999/2000 is no longer part of the last 5 years.
They look at the coefficients every year. But there is a "delay". The standings after this season determine the entries for the 2005/06 competition. And the standings after last season determine the entries for next years competition. They do that so it's known how many places there are available before the national league starts.
This week the CL and UEFA-cup start again, so here is a reminder of the current standings (I'll leave Portugal out, because they can be overhouled by the Netherlands this season) 7.Greece 34.582 (+1.834) 1/6 8.Netherlands 32.748 (0.000) 1/6 --------------------- 9.Czech Rep. 32.325 (-0.423) 2/4 10.Turkey 30.791 (-1.957) 4/6 11.Scotland 30.375 (-2.373) 1/4 Only the Czech Rep. has still a team in the CL. The rest of the remaining teams plays in the UEFA-cup.
Yesterday's points: Sparta Praha (0.250) 7.Greece 34.582 (+1.834) 1/6 8.Netherlands 32.748 (0.000) 1/6 --------------------- 9.Czech Rep. 32.575 (-0.173) 2/4 10.Turkey 30.791 (-1.957) 4/6 11.Scotland 30.375 (-2.373) 1/4
Yesterday's points: Panathinaikos (0,167) PSV (0,167) Teplice (0,000) Genclerbirligi (0,333) Besiktas (0,000) Galatasaray (0,167) Gaziantepspor (0,333) 7.Greece 34.748 (+1.833) 1/6 8.Netherlands 32.915 (0.000) 1/6 --------------------- 9.Czech Rep. 32.575 (-0.340) 2/4 10.Turkey 31.624 (-1.291) 4/6 11.Scotland 30.875 (-2.040) 1/4 The Czechs are on a little more distance now, but Turkey is coming close very rapidly now. I think they are more a tread to us than the Czech Rep.
Yesterday's points: Panathinaikos (0,000) eliminated PSV (0,333) Teplice (0,500) eliminated Genclerbirligi (0,333) Besiktas (0,000) eliminated Galatasaray (0,000) eliminated Gaziantepspor (0,000) eliminated Celtic (0,000) 7.Greece 34.748 (+1.500) 0/6 8.Netherlands 33.248 (0.000) 1/6 --------------------- 9.Czech Rep. 33.075 (-0.173) 1/4 10.Turkey 31.957 (-1.291) 1/6 11.Scotland 30.875 (-2.373) 1/4 Turkey is no treat anymore as 3 of the 4 teams were eliminated yesterday. And if Sparta Praha loses at Milan next week then we are as good as assured of the 8th place.
Yesterday's points: Sparta Prague (0,000) eliminated 7.Greece 34.748 (+1.500) 0/6 8.Netherlands 33.248 (0.000) 1/6 9/17 --------------------- 9.Czech Rep. 33.075 (-0.173) 0/4 10.Turkey 31.957 (-1.291) 1/6 8/17 11.Scotland 30.875 (-2.373) 1/4 10/17 The last Czech team is eliminated, so the Czechs can't get past us any more this year. Only Turkey and Scotland can still get past us (in green the number of points they need to get past us, if we don't get any points any more). In blue the points are which we have to get to get past Greece. 17 is the maximum number of points a team can still get in the rest of the competition.
Re: Re: UEFA-coefficient Yesterday's points: PSV (0,167) Genclerbirligi (0,333) Celtic (0,500) 7.Greece 34.748 (+1.333) 0/6 8.Netherlands 33.415 (0.000) 1/6 8/15 --------------------- 9.Czech Rep. 33.075 (-0.340) 0/4 10.Turkey 32.291 (-1.124) 1/6 7/15 11.Scotland 31.375 (-2.040) 1/4 9/15 Only Turkey and Scotland can still get past us (in green the number of points they need to get past us, if we don't get any points any more). Yesterday's points: PSV (0.333 + 0.167 (bonus)) Genclerbirligi (0.000) eliminated Celtic (0.250 + 0.250 (bonus)) 7.Greece 34.748 (+0.833) 0/6 8.Netherlands 33.915 (0.000) 1/6 5/12 --------------------- 9.Czech Rep. 33.075 (-0.840) 0/4 10.Turkey 32.291 (-1.624) 0/6 11.Scotland 31.875 (-2.040) 1/4 9/12 Only Scotland can still get past us (in green the number of points they need to get past us, if we don't get any points any more). In blue the points are which we have to get to get past Greece. 12 is the maximum number of points a team can still get in the rest of the competition. So Celtic have to get to the final at least to have Scotland overtake us.
Yesterday's points: PSV (0.167) Celtic (0.250) 7.Greece 34.748 (+0.667) 0/6 8.Netherlands 34.081 (0.000) 1/6 4/10 --------------------- 9.Czech Rep. 33.075 (-1.006) 0/4 10.Turkey 32.291 (-1.790) 0/6 11.Scotland 32.125 (-1.956) 1/4 8/10 Only Scotland can still get past us (in green the number of points they need to get past us, if we don't get any points any more). In blue the points are which we have to get to get past Greece. 10 is the maximum number of points a team can still get in the rest of the competition. If Celtic is eliminated Wednesday or if they don't win and PSV qualify, then the Netherlands is assured of 6 places for another year.
