UEFA Champions League Qualifying, 1st round: Shelbourne v Glentoran (NIR) [R]

First leg goes Wednesday, July 13th, at the Oval in Belfast. Shels will be favourites, but Glentoran will take heart from Linfield's Setanta Cup victory a few months ago, as well as from Shelbourne's poor league form.

Here's the Oval. Only the seated areas will be open for this match, reducing the capasity to only 3500.

 

There are always concerns, but I don't really expect anything will happen.

Looks like good news on the injury front for Shelbourne: Moore, Rogers, Baker and Hawkins all look set to be in the Shelbourne side.

Sounds as though Glentoran are doing quite well. Few chances as of yet.

 

Corner comes in, shot by Byrne deflected just wide. Resulting corner is cleared by the Glentoran defense.

Houlihan then breaks into the box, but Morris again pulls off a good save.

 

Shelbourne are all over Glentoran. Parkhouse is booked, and Shels have a freekick on the edge of the area. Hits the wall.

McCann, the winger, did not pass his fitness test for Glentoran. Baker and Houlihan have apparantly been the danger men for Shels.

Cahill has moved to left back for the second half, and Moore slots into midfield.

 

Glentoran are giving the ball away a lot, but Shelbourne can't score.

Moore has a shot, well saved by Morris. "Knife through butter."

 

Baker wins another header, Morris flaps at it, but Crowe puts it wide from 6 yards out.

 

Crowe breaks in, crosses for Byrne who puts it in! The vital away goal is scored.

Glentoran 0-1 Shelbourne.
