One of the most encouraging things about Carsley is how quickly he seems to learn from his errors and adapt accordingly. Did it at senior level and he's done it in this tournament too. It's one of the advantages of being as brave as he is in his decisions but it really is the hallmark of a top coach.
I honestly thought Hart started by saying it wasn’t, then kept saying it was from the replays and finally said it wasn’t again after the final decision.
I’ve just realised this squad contains none of the 2019 U17’s despite having 7 2002’s. Harwood-Bellis injured while Madueke, Rogers, Trafford and Palmer were with the seniors. Mengi almost made it ans was dropped at the last hurdle.
That ref looked at this and did nothing lol. He’s at least partly to blame for the ending. 1936530405886210344 is not a valid tweet id
That was shocking! Just bloody lucky the dirty Spanish git didn’t connect otherwise it could have been a serious injury! No surprise the ref didn’t act on it, he was pretty useless from what I saw.
Fights seem to break out every time we beat Spain in a youth tournament. I think we have a pretty good record against them at youth level since 2017 beat them in the 2017 u17 WC final, although they beat us in the Euros finals, beat them in the 17s a year ago, beat them in last years u21 final and last night.
Dortmund getting CL again will help as well going by Tuchel’s focus on on European performances. Media hype will go overdrive if both Bellingham’s are in the squad. The Neville brothers only went to Euros together as Phil never went to a World Cup
Watching the game back and it's absurd that Tyler Morton put the level of performance in that he did when you consider he's played nearly all of his football in the PL2 this season. Those two Spanish midfielders have 53 combined La Liga appearances this season alone. Just underscores how awful Liverpool have been in their handling of him really. What a wasted year.
He was pretty underwhelming at Blackburn. I remember his jumping out the way of a challenge which cost us a semi final place in the fa cup
I love watching Quansah's marauding runs. He's also pretty decent defensively. He is definitely a future England defender
Seems overwhelmingly likely that we will, fortunately. It'll be interesting to see where Morton lands - I feel like the Championship is most likely but a possession-based side like Brighton should be having a good look at him. Too much quality on the ball even if he's not the best physically. I know it's funny, I was talking to my dad about this the other day. He looked a completely different player at Hull compared to us. He was always way too easy to push off the ball, although JDT clearly liked him. I guess we were just his learning curve/introduction to senior football.
Not sure how many watched it but the end of McAtee's post-match interview was very telling. Interviewer said something along the lines of "The first team experience at City over the season must have helped you today" and he was a bit cagey and said he only got a few chances. Clearly wants to be playing week in week out.
Morton has always played well for the U21’s under Carsley. Also, it is quite mad that Anderson, Hackney and Morton had zero competitive caps before U21 level. They have pretty much become the focal base of our U21 CM options.
