Great win well done to Carsley and the team. It always seems to kick off when we play these at youth level lol.
That is one hell of a win given everything the team has against it. The tournament has to go down as a success now regardless of what happens in the semi final. Look at the teams we've beaten in under 21 euros, Sweden are basically as good as it gets pre Carsley. Spain are basically designed in a lab to be England's Achilles heel so it's a big thing on his CV to take them out two tournaments in a row. Really strong contender for the senior job now surely.
Every player put a real shift in there. If we had a Lee Carsley at every youth level we would conquer the world
I cannot recall us ever beating Spain at a youth tournament without them throwing a massive hissy fit at the end of it. It really some kind of systemic thing, no other European side is like it.
Really encouraging performance in the second half to cement the win. We played a lot of it in their half and should've scored the clincher a lot earlier. Have to admit that Cresswell hasn't been on my radar but I kind of fancy him to have a decent senior career with his aerial dominance.
BBC showing McAtee got a yellow and one Spaniard got a red - both 90+5 so after the whistle. May not be the final tally.
Brilliant win that, loved actually how organised we looked compared to previous games. Great win for this depleted squad, whatever happens now they have exceeded expectations imo.
Stansfield makes a monumental difference. Not got loads of quality with the ball but the shift he puts in allows the others around him to play. Cresswell class as well, he's been one of the standouts of this tournament. Quansah good too.
I didn’t expect that. What a good results but god it was tense at some points. He was such a boring commentator all night. Phil Neville at the 2014 World Cup style.
One would hope Carsely would have learned the hard way after the Greece match that often the best 11 players don't always make the best team. Feels like we've found our way here, but also that he needed to find that out again.
The Dutch have Taylor, Rensch, and Van Bommel suspended for the next game so they're quite depleted themselves. Taylor in particular is a huge loss for their side.
