Find that odd. Thought he was well off his normal level.

I was the same. He was fine in the first game but maybe it was indicative of how the game went. Decision making a bit off too often from all players.

Germany ahead, hopefully they'll rest a few in their final game if they win today

Social media is full of posts saying look it shows why Carsley mustn’t become senior manger after Tuchel. I do feel like an early edit here would be a big off tourer for the FA if Tuchel does need repalcing next summer (My prediction is after his comments he will get new contract sometime between Qualification being confirmed and the start of the World Cup till 2028 anyway)

We look pretty likely to qualify regardless now so we should do a bit of experimenting next game imo. Maybe something like this:

    ----------------------------TSL----------------------------
    Norton-Cuffy--Quansah--Cresswell--Hinshelwood
    Elliott---------Morton---------Scott---------Iling-Jr
    --------------Nwaneri----------Stansfield--------------

Probably best to rest Anderson and Livramento imo, especially with Anderson on a booking. A runner/direct wide player like Iling-Jr needs to be tried for me too, but the lack of options on the left side really stands out. Think it's definitely worth giving Stansfield a good run out here.

He might not have got the selection quite right yesterday but it shows how the public really are probably not aware of the circumstances going into this tournament with all the unavailable players due to one reason or another. It’s always the same sort who always think we should win even when we have a somewhat depleted squad and even though you can’t rule out winning but fees unrealistic.
Anyway, I’m pretty sure the FA won’t listen to such people thank god!

Show us all at least three of these comments then. That say Carsley ‘mustn’t become senior manger after Tuchel.’

    In order to not qualify:

    We lose to Germany
    Slovenia win
Total shift in goal difference of more than 5.

Shift in goal difference of exactly 5 (i.e. If Slovenia win 3-0 and we lose 2-0 or 4-1 & 3-1 etc), it will come down to disciplinary records (currently they have 4 yellows, we have 3).

If we have the same disciplinary records, next up is qualifying coefficient. With Slovenia as host, I don't think this will come into effect, so drawing lots comes in to play.

Fireburn's passion for finding issues where there aren't any really holds no bounds:)

Weren't the Channel 4 viewing figures for the final in 2023 about 1 million? It's a sizeable minority and an impressively strong following for a youth tournament but it's a fraction of the overall picture. The vast majority of England fans do not follow or watch the U21 side. There's very little scrutiny on this job both from fans and media. I doubt Carsley's selections are much of a topic in most pubs in the country atm.

I don’t think he can experiment now because of the fact we could still potentially go out. Norton-Cuffy and Hutchinson coming in would make sense. Maybe Stansfield too and hope Rowe can impact from the bench.

I’m a bit confused by Rowe. At Norwich and at the start of his U21 career he was a high energy option but since moving to Marseille he’s a lot more reserved in what he does on and off the ball.

Yeah maybe not, although an exit feels quite unlikely. You'd think we'd get some rotation though because we have to switch things up a bit. We just need a bit more penetration in the final third really.

Agree on Rowe, he's just not involved enough. With Stansfield you know he's gonna make himself a handful at a minimum.

Rowe was a proper powerhouse when he first appeared at Norwich. Now he simply looks like a low-energy winger being asked to perform a role that he's not comfortable with. The moment where he got behind his man and laid the ball on a plate for Nwaneri to somehow miss a sitter showed us what he's good at. But on this evidence, he just doesn't have the hold up play, the dynamism or the predatory instinct required to be a convincing number nine.

I don’t think we can expect an excellent CF role from Rowe but we want what he did in his chances earlier in the campaign. Just the basics off the ball would be a start. High energy pressing and making more runs to create space for our more creative outlets.

Beginning to think it might be a confidence issue with him.
