Well in theory Trafford could join the U21’s after and just miss the first match. He won’t but some countries will be doing that Off course we won’t probably start and finish with 26 Unkess he calls up replacements. Someone is bound to pull out injured either before the meet up or during it.
I would get not taking Trafford to give others a chance given he did play the previous tournament if we had stronger options, but the gap is so large it’s pretty damaging to the side. It’s pretty questionable if Beadle really has a long term future for England either worth cultivating. Frankly I’d be surprised if other keepers hadn’t surpassed him by the end of the next cycle, similar to Bursik. Beadles confidence must also be pretty rock bottom given being dropped by Sheffield Wednesday coupled with a pretty terrible international window last time out. There’s not any plausible competition for him either.
I actually think it would be pretty irresponsible to play Beadle. If Carsley wants to take him in the squad for his morale, fine, but there's a pretty reasonable national audience for U21 Euros games and there'll be much more scrutiny on this side than there has been. I don't think it's particularly fair on Beadle to put him in the spotlight when he's shown for a while he's not up to it on current form. We do actually have a very capable replacement for Trafford in Tickle, but for some unknown reason he's been left out of the last few squads.
It’s the first time all the matches will be on FTA Tv for a long while. Only the final was last time and before that it was normally only on SKY,
What a mess. So they might be named and then not be allowed to go and someone else possibly called up?
Heres the Training Camp Squad The Squad Goalkeepers: James Beadle (Sheffield Wednesday, on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion), Owen Goodman (AFC Wimbledon, on loan from Crystal Palace), Teddy Sharman-Lowe (Doncaster Rovers, on loan from Chelsea),Tommy Simkin (Walsall, on loan from Stoke City) Defenders: Dennis Cirkin (Sunderland), Charlie Cresswell (FC Toulouse), Ronnie Edwards (QPR, on loan from Southampton), CJ Egan-Riley (Burnley), Teden Mengi (Luton Town), Brooke Norton Cuffy (Genoa), Tino Livramento (Newcastle United), Jarell Quansah (Liverpool) Midfielders: Elliot Anderson (Nottingham Forest), Jobe Bellingham (Sunderland), Archie Gray (Tottenham Hotspur), Hayden Hackney (Middlesbrough), Jack Hinshelwood (Brighton and Hove Albion), Tyler Morton (Liverpool), Alex Scott (AFC Bournemouth), Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) Forwards: Liam Delap (Ipswich Town), Harvey Elliott (Liverpool), Tom Fellows (West Bromwich Albion), Omari Hutchinson (Ipswich Town), Sam Iling Jnr (Middlesbrough, on loan from Aston Villa), Ethan Nwaneri (Arsenal), Dane Scarlett (Tottenham Hotspur), Jay Stansfield (Birmingham City), Jonathan Rowe (Marseille, on loan from Norwich)
Assuming he makes the final squad and we do fairly well, Tyler Morton might end up with more international minutes than club ones this season.
How much training can Alex Scott do at the moment. Final squad June 6th., 5 outfield and 1 goalie need cutting.
It’s a very good midfield but I don’t really see a tournament winning squad there, defensively seems pretty weak. Not helped by the late centre back injuries of course. I think knock out rounds is a reasonable expectation for the side.
Yeah tend to agree, Trafford, Branthwaite and Harwood-Bellis are big misses from this group, whatever back 5 we pick will have played next to no minutes together.
Defence is a mess. Livramento being there helps but centre back is badly affected and goalkeeper week. I’m nervous about Quanash’s involvement - he seems to have lots of mistakes.
A mess is too big a stretch, they are all good players. But you can't expect them to perform cohesively with so little experience playing together.
That Trafford move has completely screwed us. Still can’t believe Tuchel’s done that. Circumstances couldn’t have gone any worse. On top of losing our 1v1 wide options (Philogene and Madueke). God knows what system Carsley is going to go with. It’s still a good squad that should be able to put out a good starting team but expectations have to be lowered.
I know midfield is probably our strongest area but I find it slightly odd there's been almost no talk of an involvement for Mainoo. Think it'd be a great opportunity for him to build up some confidence again. He's undoubtedly good enough to have an impact in these games.
I'm not too worried about the defence personally. It's by no means the strongest in the tournament but I'm not any less confident in Quansah than I would've been in THB, who's had a very poor season. Quansah and one of Cresswell/CJER/Edwards is a nice enough pairing. We have a proper LB in Cirkin now and Livramento is arguably the best RB in the tournament. My main issue is the GK and a lack of 1v1 ability out wide. Hutchinson isn't bad in that department but he's not amazing either.
Think the forward line is a bit weak as well, certainly compared to the last edition. Only Nwaneri is a big talent in there for me. Looks like we'll end up with midfielders shoehorned here, there and everywhere.
