I don't recall him playing with the first team last season. From what I can find, he's only 19, so he probably played with their Primavera (youth) team. Unfortunately, they pretty much discard last year's primavera info/stats each off-season, so I can't confirm that. I did find a couple of articles from when they (Udinese) first signed him last summer, where they were pretty enthusiastic about him. Is this rumor a sale or a loan? Not sure why he didn't pan out. You never know if it's personal politics, he didn't fit with the Italian style of play, or whatever. Anyway, here he is:
It could be on loan. If ever. Aberdeen boss Jimmy Calderwood is really stalling on finding the ideal man.
Thought I'd revive this thread in honor of Goitom scoring his first-ever Serie A goal yesterday - and in dramatic fashion, getting the late equalizer vs Inter.
More info on him: he was signed from a 3rd div. Swedish club 2 years ago or so. His parents come from Eritrea, however it seems Henok has pledged his int. future to Sweden (he is a regular with their U21s). Other than there isn't much to say, 'cept he is about heir 4th choice striker (or maybe 3rd) behind Fava, Iaquinta (and maybe Di Michele?).
Henok Goitom scored a brace for Swedish U-21 team on friday! He seems to be getting some things done!!!
Haha, even at Winning Eleven 8 he's a good investment... That's why I love Udinese We can sell off Iaquinta, but we have good replace parts like Fava and Goitom...
Yea, I noticed that in WE8. I brought him in for the last few min against Newcastle and he scored, just by running around a guy without any major speed---it was basicallly all strength. Quite interesting.
