http://uabsports.ocsn.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/043003aaa.html Kind of an odd time to sign after MLS season starts. I"m sure it probably has something to do with wanting to get more experience to get in the U-20 WC (he's currently 3rd string keeper with U-20s).
very odd This is very strange, does anyone know what kind of contract he signed and who is interested in him? I assume he took a developmental contract since almost every team has their 18 full roster players in place. It seems he could have gotten more game experience staying in college, now what...sign with a team and get loaned to a D-3 team for a few games? UMD has two keepers with better stats than his.....I wonder why now.....how are his academics, would he be eligible in the Fall.....family/persoanl situation........very surprising. I haven't seen him play but if he is that good (national pool) why would he at UAB and not at a top 20 program? Lots of questions, does anyone have to real scoop here?
Re: very odd Maybe he feels like he's got his two years and that he can always go back and finish later after his career is over. Why did he not play for a top 20 program? Maybe he didn't want to get mired on the bench? Why did Joe Cole play for West Ham instead of ManU? Anyways, check out this thread for more info:https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46645
Re: very odd UAB is a top 20 college program...maybe not this year, but they certainly have been in the past. They finished top 10 in '99 and have routinely done well for the past 5 years or so. They've won the conference a few times and that's with St. Louis in the conference.
