U23s :: DC United vs Panama :: Aim Chat

I posted this information on the Youth National Teams board but given the number of players we've got on the team I thought I'd note this here too. Word is that this match isn't going to be carried on closed circuit TV at all. That means Summers won't actually have the match and MatchTracker and chat will be the only ways to follow the match. Better than nothing, I suppose ...

    Here's the chat info: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=94577

    Bobby and Esky starting.

Warren, Stokes and Carroll on the bench.

It's good to see Bobby in the center of the midfield. I read somewhere earlier that he would be playing out wide right with Donovan in the center.

...Plus, with the way that Eddie Johnson looked during the World Youth Championships, I'm thrilled to see Alecko paired with Landon. That bodes well for United. (Although Eddie's last game against Argentina left something to be desired, he was very threatening throughout the tournament.)

    8th minute: Bobby scores!

Free kick by Davis. A poor clearance and Boby pounced on it.

Oh, and Bobby drew the foul that resulted in the free kick.

    1-0 US

He certainly has picked up his level of play over the last few months. Bodes well for the pre-season and upcoming games.

Yeah, I like the idea of him being more aggressive.

2 minutes after Beckerman scores, Esky and DMB combine and Esky puts it in.

    30 mins. 3-0 USA

US up 3-0 after an Eski goal. Maybe Convey's play is influencing Eski. That is definitely a good sign for DC.

Awesome Picture Weasel. Maybe if we get up by a few more Mooch will take out the stars (Convey, Beasley, LD) and bring in Carroll or Stokes. There are so many games in such a short period of time. Let's hope our DC boys can get in there and give it a go.

I think they are the starters and Mooch is saving them for the tougher opponents. With three games in five days, you have to pick and choose when you need your best.

It's possible that Donovan, not Esky, scored the third. Apparently they look so much alike that even Matchtracker can't tell them apart.

Well, it looks like Esky did NOT score the third goal if the AP photos are to be trusted. Landon scored on an assist from DMB.

Esky's been called for about 3 or 4 offsides.

Well, I'm glad to see Convey making his mark again, especially after the apparent lack of focus the US team went through through the first 30-35 minutes of the second half. If Bobby want's to be in that playmaker type of role, he's got to be able to change the momentum of the game too. It's good to see him attempting to do this.

Alecko took a few shots and got a goal, which is good, but he's got to watch his offsides. He had one called back because of him being in an offsides position. Granted, the Ref's vision may not have been great , but he should still be aware of where he is in relation to the defenders.

On another note, our defense got exposed quite a bit. I hope that Stokes is learning from other peoples mistakes. The fact he isn't in that line-up tells me something about where he's at in his development, but at least, he's not making the mistakes himself.
