USA team: Henninger, Pressley, Quon, Dunn, Johnson, DiMartino, Bywaters, K. Mewis, Narin, Leroux, Brooks.

The FIFA game tracker does not give them in any sort of order that makes sense (Brooks listed last but clearly not a forward).

eta: am I talking to myself and should hush? or are others around & watching?

And Ghana score from a shot well outside the 18. Not undeserved from Ghana. We haven't looked all that great so far.

That was a brilliant goal, wow!!!!

I'm actually confused about this game. I did live in Ghana for 2 years and when the USMNT is playing Ghana, I always root for Ghana but for the women, I'm torn

The USA midfield is being outplayed. All of them.

Quick question, is Vicki DiMartino related to Tina and Gina?

If the Ghanian defender continues to take goal kicks, a USA forward should stay high on the 18 (providing the midfield can win the kick).

The USA is having trouble w/ their service/long passing. How long have they had to train w/ the new adidas ball? US is Nike sponsored so they usually use Nike balls.

And now a Ghana player is down. Shall we start a count of how often that happens or figure just the Ghanian men's team does that?

28' 0-1 Stoppage of play as #13 Mercy Myles walks shakily into touch (and eventually back to the locker room). Ref brings out a bottle of water and ... sprinkles it over a steaming pile of brown eww around Ghana's center arc right. Magic spray for the field!!

USA can't keep the ball down on any free kicks. geeze. get over the ball & don't lean back so much.

eta: did Ghana make a sub for the puker? or are they playing w/ 10? (and if so, the USA should be ashamed)

eta2: and just as I ask, here comes a sub for Ghana.

This team (the midfield in particular) is *really* disorganized. Being fluid w/ runs is one thing. What I'm seeing is something else. That sort of disorganization (particularly if it continues) is on the coach.

32' 0-1 USA punt a long ball from midfield center toward #11 Christine Nairn sprinting through box top left, one step ahead of #12 Mantenn Kobblah. Ball bounces at 19m 6-left behind them both, comes up brushing Kobblah's front jersey, and whacks her flapping left chickenwing from inside and behind, and takes a major deflection orthogonal to Nairn's run. Handball. Totally accidental, and Kobblah's arm was naturally there for balance, but still it was away from her torso and stopped a chance. Free kick from 18m box top left, #12 Zakiya Bywaters sails it way over.
