Interestingly, if Jamaica manages to rally and win their playoff, we'll see the same foursome in Charleston that the 84s saw as members of the U17 team last year in CONCACAF qualifying in St. Louis. In those games, the US rallied to beat Jamaica, beat Canada then hammered El Salvador. I wonder how many of the 84s from Canada, El Salvador, and, if applicable, Jamaica who were in St. Louis will be in Charleston.
Which is real interesting, as Wade Jackson caught all 6 games from the Saint Louis series, including some mpegs including a couple of the PK that was taken 3 times! This sucks. I really wanted to go see the Baby Nats play, but the Senior Side have a full international on the 17th. Sachin
Haiti ended up qualifying instead of Jamaica which ruins the "repeat". I can answer your question about Canada somewhat. The MVP of the U17 tournament in St.Louis was a Canadian, striker Wyn Belotte, and he's a lock to start for the Canadian U20 side in November assuming he's not injured. I think he scored both goals against the US in the US win. I think Sita Taty-Matondo & Nicholas Ledgerwood were on that squad & will also return for Canada. I expect the Yanks & Canucks to go through, but its difficult to say that with too much certainty without knowing the strength of the Haitian & El Salvadoran sides.
It truly would have kicked ass had the tournaments been in Germantown, MD. The schedule could have been tweaked slightly and the USA vs. El Salvador match could have taken place at RFK right before the senior sides meet in a friendly. All this, of course, assumes that today's Washington Post report is correct and the two sides will meet at RFK on the 17th. Sachin
