Kartunen was an MLS pool keeper for a little while. I'm pretty sure he never got into a game, though.

Altamirano played some with Albion Pro's and the Sockers (indoor) but nothing other than that.

From what I can tell he is still playing soccer but in a rec league.

    Awesome list!

The sheet has been updated with the 22-player England camp.

Does anyone know if Suddoth is technically a professional? At present, I'm not counting him as one.

Just one correction, I don't think Sabbi was at the NTC Invitational camp in June/July 2016.

That would make Klinsmann, Borges, Mansaray, and Sabbi the co-leaders in camp call ups, with six each -- though Klinsmann didn't show up to one of those camps, for whatever reason.

Well -- you get what you pay for...

Thanks for the correction; will update the spreadsheet.

I can only find a handful of players from the 2003 (83/84 cycle) who might not have played pro outdoor soccer.

    Chun David
    Dinnal Kirk
    Hartman Jon
    Schuerman Adam
    Simo Chefik
Simo, of course, was hurt in the 2002 crash that killed highly regarded YNTer Gray Griffin.

    http://www.ussoccer.com/stories/201...-captain-gray-griffin-killed-in-auto-accident

That's 36 pros out of 41 callups by my count. Despite the size of that pool, small by current U20 standards, it has produced 11 capped players, 8 guys with WCQ minutes, four WC roster guys and an all-time great (Dempsey) -- plus Arturo Alvarez (El Salvador MNT) and a number of "almost" guys. Also of note, three American-born and -raised guys from this group made World Cup rosters without a single U20 callup -- Bornstein, Guzan and Wondo.

    Plus, Zak Whitbread!

Far as I can tell, every player in the 32-player 2001 cycle (the 81/82 "Donovan Group") went pro except Guy Abrahamson. I could be wrong and I just don't have detailed enough records for that period, but I can only find a single camp before qualifying, then four afterwards. Obviously this bunch produced some terrific players. It also missed completely on Herc Gomez and Clarence Goodson. And Jermaine Jones was part of this age group but not in the mix at the time.

I have some records for previous groups, though relatively little. If anybody feels like digging into that stuff a bit, feel free to share what you have here and I'll update the sheet.

I've started to check a few more boxes as guys from past U20 callup groups get pro contracts -- right now, holding off on a few draftees until they actually make rosters, but the 2015 group is already at at least 55 signed pros, with quite a few more more likely to come (out of 79 total players).

A few of these remaining 2013 stragglers might get checked off too (please advise if any of them already have pro contracts):

    Decker Ethan
    Edwards Dakota
    Fender Holden
    Guzman Flavio
    McGuire Jake
    Oliver Andrew
    Torre Javan
    Vogel Derek
    Wendelken Matt
    Wiesenfarth Matt

Of that last group, by the way, Vogel ended up at Navy, so a pro career is unlikely. McGuire was drafted by Houston this year. Also, I forgot that Wiesenfarth got a deal in New Zealand.

Here's a semi-current list of nonpros from the 2015 cycle -- some of them will surely be on pro rosters this coming U.S. season:

    Caldwell Jeff
    Olsen Thomas
    Amick Michael
    Baird Corey
    Dainkeh Sulaiman
    Duvernay Caleb
    Fracchia Matias
    Gasper Chase
    Haberkorn Trevor
    Hayes Jacori
    Lema Christopher
    Lillard Grant
    Lopez-Espin Ricardo
    Markey Jalen
    Odoi-Atsem Chris
    Polley Miguel
    Reaves Kristoffer
    Rozhansky Jake
    Sagel Robert
    Smith Caleb
    Wannemuehler Travis
    Winn Alan
I'm holding off checking the "pro" box for drafted players until I see the team rosters. And some of these guys are still in school.

And here are the current U20s not on pro contracts by my count:

    Bashti Amir
    Bell Jonathan
    Borges Marcello
    Burns David
    Elney Sebastian
    Gutjahr Jeremiah
    Herrera Aaron
    Hinds Nicholas "Nick"
    Jones Malcolm
    Kelly Jeremy
    Klinsmann Jonathan
    Lindley Cameron
    Lopez Leo
    Marcinkowski James "JT"
    Martin Henry
    Mendes Lucas
    Morris Jake
    Nelson John
    Onalfo Christian
    Pelaez Pablo
    Pineda Mauricio
    Poarch Chad
    Popovic Nebojsa "Nash"
    Salas Martin
    Sargent Joshua
    Scott Brady
    Silva Diego
    Suddoth Toni
    Waldrep Evan
    Williamson Eryk
    Wilson Sean
    Winter Abu
Hard to know how many more of those could be professionals by the end of the cycle in early to mid June. (I'm also not sure about Suddoth.) Many of them seem pretty likely to head back to college, but as the Lombard signing shows, negotiations are ongoing for some guys.

The fact is that I was adding the latest U20 callups into my Google doc while the baby was napping when, suddenly, I heard those three little words every man fears: "So, what'cha doin'?"

I actually showed her this thread. She was surprisingly cool with the entire thing -- what can I say, that's my girl.

I've made a few tweaks to the 2017 sheet, mostly pertaining to guys who have signed pro contracts I didn't have. I added Lucas Mendes (who went pro during the cycle) and noted the post-Finals deals for Kunga, Klinsmann and Scott.

Here's what I think is a current list of still-amateur guys from the 2017 cycle -- which, obviously, includes some guys who could go pro at any minute.

    Bashti Amir
    Bell Jonathan
    Borges Marcello
    Burns David
    Elney Sebastian
    Gutjahr Jeremiah
    Herrera Aaron
    Hinds Nicholas "Nick"
    Jones Malcolm

    Salas Martin
    Sargent Joshua
    Silva Diego
    Suddoth Toni
    Terwege Brandon
    Toye Mason

The next guy to have a "box checked" from this cap could be Roldan, should Arena play him in the Gold Cup.
