I know this is the EURO but i can't take youth tournaments anymore after what happened last year. Dominating Brazil only to lose on PK's in a tournament we should have won.
Portugal 2 (Quina '37 & Gomes '55) Scotland 0 http://www.uefa.com/under17/season=2016/matches/round=2000593/match=2019768/index.html Extended highlights. Gomes has scored 3 in two games and Portugal have already qualified for the QF with two out of two (GF 7 GA 0).
Results Group A Azerbaijan 1 Belgium 1 Portugal 2 Scotland 0 Group B Germany 3 Bosnia and Herzegovina 1 Ukraine 0 Austria 2 Group C Denmark 1 Sweden 1 France 0 England 2 Group D Serbia 1 Spain 1 Italy 0 Netherlands 1 Austria has qualified with Portugal for the QF with one game remaining.
Ya last summer still stings a bit; by far the best team at the u20 world cup and we choke on pks after dominating Brazil...then in the u21 euros we were easily the most talented team and lost to Sweden of all teams in the final on pks...in almost a youth version of euro 2004
This U17 is gonna win the tournament full of strong fast players mostly from BENFICA.. Jose Gomes is the next Eusebio
Portugal 0 Belgium 0 http://www.uefa.com/under17/news/newsid=2363265.html Belgium had the two best opportunities but both were saved by Diogo Costa.
Results. Group C Sweden 1 France 1 Denmark 1 England 3 Group D Spain 4 Italy 2 Serbia 0 Netherlands 2 Sweden (1st), England (2nd), Spain (1st) and Netherlands (2nd) have qualified.
QF Portugal vs Austria Germany vs Belgium Sweden vs Netherlands Spain vs England To be played on 14/15 (this Saturday and Sunday). Portugal vs Austria this Saturday at 12:00 PT time.
Really strong tournament lots of really really good teams. Jose Gomes and Domingos Quina have been excellent this team has some very talented players in every position except striker. If Gomes gets injured I don't think Mikael Almeida has much quality. I really like Miguel Luis from sporting, he seems like such a well rounded player, him and Quina link up quite well. I'm looking forward to the game verse Austria the six changes to the first XI in the last game really stopped our momentum I feel, hopefully we can get the swagger back of the first 2 games.
Portugal 5 (Gomes '7, '18, '47, Dju '51 & Luis '77) Austria 0 Austria were torn apart with only one attempt on goal (off target) the whole game. Dalot hit the post and Gomes could of got another goal. Gomes is the leading scorer in the tournament with 6 goals and he was subbed after scoring 2 against Azerbaijan and did not play most of the game against Belgium, MASSIVE talent at the striker position. This team looks as good as the U21 one last year. Portugal vs Sweden or Netherlands on Wednesday the 18th in the semi final.
really like the number 8 what a great shot he has and the little 7 good dribbler and rides tackles keeping the ball just bounces of the defenders
This is going to be a Portugal - Germany/Spain final. Barring a total collapse vs Sweden (again) if they get through Netherlands.
That's the kid from sporting Miguel Luis, he's quality but that whole midfield is amazing I think they've gone with Gedson, Florentino and Quina due to their benfica connection. However I think Florentino reputation from younger years is keeping him in the first XI for me Luis should start. Jose Gomes is one hell of a player, he has all the tools and most importantly is such a clinical finisher.
was watching the end of spain england on euro-sport today, and they were saying that it was Portugal v spain semi
Ya, I heard them say that too. But they must be mistaken. Uefa.com says we're playing Holland on Wednesday. Same with the Portuguese Football Federation's official site. http://www.uefa.com/under17/news/newsid=2364783.html#chong+fore+netherlands+edge+sweden http://www.fpf.pt/pt-pt/Selecoes/Fu...ler/383/Sub-17-Holanda-no-caminho-de-Portugal
