The Mexicans get their first look at Adin Brown

Come join the Midnight Riders and other New England Revolution supporters on Thursday night, May 8 at The OverDraught Pub in Cambridge as we cheer on the boys (including the Revolution's own Adin Brown) in the first rematch of these two regional rivals since the 2002 World Cup Finals. Gametime is 8:00 PM EST with the match being carried LIVE by ESPN2 from Reliant Stadium in Houston. Directions and other venue details are available at: http://www.midnightriders.com

So let's get a good crowd and a head-start on the weekend, one that will see a re-match of MLS Cup 2003 as the Revolution take on the L.A. Galaxy in Foxboro on Saturday, May 10th at 4:00PM.

Bump. They're now expecting over 60,000 in Houston for this match.

    "La Revancha en la Cancha"

Not knowing Spanish ... does this mean "The Revenge of the Bitch Slap?"

    ;)

I can't wait for tomorrow night. I wanted to go to Houston for this one (having been to the last two huge wins over Mexico in Columbus and Korea), but since France is taking most of my summer money, I'll be at the OD with hopefully a good crowd of fans. And hopefully there'll be singing as well!

2 nil to the Boys in Blue

I hope we get a good crowd as well. There's a Red Sox game at the same time, and while we've been promised the big screen, it would be good to have enough numbers to really justify it.

Yeah, you can watch this at home, but why not come out, have some dinner, enjoy a good pint, and cheer on the U.S.

i think you may be able to add 2-3 more to the list.

sorry, don't mean to bring up any sore spots.....but it's 100% guaranteed that this match will be on the big screen, right? has anyone just double checked with management recently an an ulta-precaution?

We are getting the big screen, that has been confirmed. And to make sure that the status never changes, we should make sure that we get a good crowd! :)

Unfortunately there is no usual crowd. We've had some games where only about 10-15 show up, and then there was the Canada match were about 50 showed up but weren't able to watch. So go figure.

And it won't hurt ... on one condition. If there are TV cameras there, don't get in between the cameras and the Magpie. That's when it gets dangerous! ;)

    Ouch!

Crowds at The OverDraught have really varied, but let's just say that for the World Cup some fire codes were broken ;-). It would be great to have a big crowd there tonight: The OverDraught has been a generous and gracious host, and it never hurts to provide them with good business.

Not to be a party pooper ...

But have one major gripe against the overdraft:

Mainly the sight lines just blow, unless you're one of the 10 people who gets a seat at the center tables it can be really hard to get a seat with clear view.

I'd love it if they'd move the high tables to the edges and put the low tables in the middle. That way you'd at least double the number of people who can see unobstructed.

I generally prefer Plough and Stars, The Druid or the Pheniox. They are all great bars for EPL, but their anglophile nature means they're less inclined to show MLS. Still I'll be calling them to see if their showing tonights game before deciding between my couch and the Overdraft.

edit: I should also point out the overdraft is a great place to watch Revs games, good food, good beer and great fans. I don't mean to sound overly negative, the layout just really bugs me.

Nope, have to agree with you there: the layout is a bit awkard.

Actually this is a great idea ... I wonder if they'd be willing to do this. We'll have to ask tonight. I'd guess that if we were willing to put all the tables back to their original spots when we're done, they'de be fine with this.

speaking as a waitress, provided you don't make it harder for the waitstaff to get through (don't block up the lane from the bar to the kitchen) It's worth asking. I just don't know what they have for seating as isn't it bench seating at the side?

sorry that i couldn't make it. we missed the turn onto 28 off of storrow and because of the big dig, and my girlfriend's extreme fear of tunnels wound up getting really lost for a half an hour and wound up in everett. not good times. i missed most of the first half by the time i finally got back home and had given up on the bar. hope that the crowd was good.
