U.S. WNT 3, Canada 1 (Oct. 11) 18% For those with short memories, Sept. 21 was the Group A first round match at RFK against Sweden. And Abby's performance in Foxboro against Norway on Oct. 1 earned her the "player" award. http://www.ussoccer.com/
Biggest shock of the voting just barely beating this year's temp' home of the Dallas Burn, Dragon Stadium. Home Depot Center as Best Soccer Stadium..
It's nice to see that even in a year when the USA did not win the WWC, the best goal and best game by a player awards were awarded correctly.
CHEVROLET ATHLETE OF THE YEAR WINNERS TO BE NAMED THURSDAY IN L.A.: U.S. Soccer will be announcing the winners of the four 2003 Chevrolet Athlete of the Year awards -- Male, Female, Young Male and Young Female -- at a press conference on Thursday (Jan. 15) at 1 p.m. (PT) at the Stadium Club of The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. -------- I think Ann Cook deserves it!
Yay Cookie - I thought you voted for Mitts...... So the choices are Mia, Abby, and Lil (final 3 in case you haven't read the entire thingy on ussf). Will be interesting if they give it to Abby since she barely made the team. Guess they can give it to her for her wusa play. I'm apparently one of the few who didn't think the earth shook from her WC performance but we'll see how the votes go. They'll probably give it to Lil just to be different. They can give it to Mia next year in a pity vote like they did for Akers her last year (yeah that'll get you-know-who riled up eh Fear?).
