Alright, I got a bit of time before I gotta actually start teaching (my first class of the day was 3rd period today, so I got to watch the whole thing). You gotta go back to June/July of 2017 for our last 4 game win-streak. And before that was literally only separated by a single draw to Orlando at the start of June. But we all know 2017 was an anomaly, so I gotta head back all the way to 2013 2-1 USOC W vs Columbus on June 13, then:
Off the subject question- The team star is not necessarily the most liked/ most admired player on teams. Which three players are highest regarded by teammates on the Fire? Update-please do not use this question as an excuse to start another”feud”.
You make me feel smart for saying that 2017 team was the last time the fire were good earlier in the thread! Pete (doesn't think he said so, but that was the 2017 roster)
I think Pete may have (subliminally) mentioned Barlow made a really helpful run on Zinck's goal...cleared the space for Zinck to do what he did. Nice to see the awareness and the action...
FWIW, here’s the same rating algorithms as shared for the Charlotte game Sofascore Fotmob Both are indicating value for Kouame’s work that wasn’t ‘obvious’ And Guti was told they had to take 2pts back because of the over rate on Saturday.
Long ball ‘hockey assist’ goes to the goal scorer! Zinck did it himself 😌 #cf97 pic.twitter.com/hbwAfNobIL— Chicago Fire FC (@ChicagoFire) May 21, 2025 #workrate
I thought D'Avila did ok on defense but I'd be interested to know how many forward passes he made? Well...now that I think about it he got beat quite easily a few times too so...
At this point, I'm really wondering what they saw in him to bring him here. I'm willing to give him more time to settle in, but he's been bad. Tonight didn't look much different.
Poor quality video and no VAR, but I felt Bamba should have been given credit for a goal. It is my understanding that a slight deflection of a shot by defender does not automatically make it an own goal. If the shot was going to be good, it is still a goal by offense. Obviously a judgement call, but whose judgement? I believe Bamba had goalie beat and should have been given credit for goal.
But shot has to be on frame. It was determined not to be on frame (without deflection would have gone wide) so can't give credit.
This one is starting to trouble me too. He's just a kid at 21 (although Ivory Coast BCs are traditionally very suspect in football) so he has a few years to develop. BUT his urgency has to improve. Way too upright and complacent over ball. GGG obviously has no problem sitting big money DPs that aren't bringing it, but this one seems contradictory if transfer fee rumors are anywhere close to true.
Talking about Bamba’s goal where Gutman made the effort? My recollection is Acosta wasn’t challenging anyone, it was one of a 200 mundane type passes we saw and the person receiving did something challenging with the possession. Nothing about the pass changed the defense posture or provided a better angle. Best I can say is he kept it moving, bravo. Or Cuyper’s where Guti made things happen? Either way ‘integral’ is ‘generous’ for Acosta’s participation.
Really hard to see for sure. I thought it looked like it beat goalie to his right. Did they use match video to arrive at that decision? Whatever.
