Klinsmann is hard on guys but when he believes in you it takes a lot for him to drop you. Corona hasn't done enough in recently to start and Shea keeps making friendly squads, despite all the preaching Klinsman does. I think it will be more of the same this friendly. We will have to wait until January to see new mls guys get a shot. Also, like what was mentioned before Klinsman is probably going to play guys like Altidore and Shea to show case and even Mix (he deserves it) since his contract is up in December. I only see Zardes and Donovan getting into this game.
Colorado is toast whereas teams like Galaxy have important games coming up in October. Putting Jozy's hamstring on a transatlantic plane ride isnt as good for him as letting him compete for a starting job in Sdland. As far as Shea or Mix or Corona is concerned, I am neutral, let Jk do as he likes.
Doesn't matter if they play a similar game. They are late bloomers that finally started playing well for whatever reason in their prime years in MLS. That doesn't make you skeptical that they might just have maxed out their career's as good MLS players playing the best soccer of their life? Wondo's best just wasn't good enough against good competition, and he has a similar profile to Nguyen in the sense that they both started playing well at around age 26-27 in what should be the absolute prime of their career. Before that they hadn't really been on the radar in the years leading up to their great success in MLS.
I see it differently and I always will with the National Team. If I see someone who I believe just isn't good enough, I'd like to see them discarded so there are more opportunities for some other players to emerge and adequately fill the role that the player that wasn't good enough couldn't fill. We disagree about Wondo. I don't see much of a need to rehash this same conversation thats been had before. You will point to the goals against minnows and the B team's of South Korea and Mexico and I will point to how he has played against the best of the best. I guess we just won't ever agree on this, so I think its best to not ruin the thread with the same discussion that has been had so many times about Wondo.
Please call up Paul Arriola. Consistently scores and/or assists while with our U20's. Question: can this team play a 4-3-3 with Dempsey?
Not sure if GCam would be called up but he is going under the knife for "a troublesome hernia" according to BBC Sport.
I don't know. No reason Geoff couldn't play his way on to the team in the Beckerman role in 2018. But I would think he's rule out for this next friendly. I don't know how fair that is. Klinsmann has afforded opportunities in non-crucial situations to a guy like Shea, but he wasn't included in the 30-man for the WC or anything. I think based on his chance creation in some nats games, seeing if he could shine in the last match was justified. Given Brek's play, I actually doubt he gets another chance unless he turns it on for a club. I think this roster will feature more experience than the last one, but that's not really a big stretch. I expect some MLS guys, but I would hope that Dempsey, Yedlin, etc. are allowed to stay with Seattle given their match and the SS race.
Put me down to see Lee Nguyen. I have to think that JK is watching and sees he may finally get the '10' he wanted out of Feilhaber.
no he hasn´t. mexico b team friendly and south korea c team friendlies dont qualify. did he score against .... spain? no chile?no canada (3x)?no, no, and no. scotland? no. austria?no. nigeria?no. portugal?no. belgium? i dont even have to answer that one. he did score against heavyweights belize, cuba and guatemala though.
As a RSL fan, I would. His offensive / final 1/3 abilities are still subpar at even the MLS level. Unless JK just wants a lock-down right back defender, Beltran is of no use to him.
I expect a completely MLS-MX based lineup. Which would be close to the team in Brazil, actually. --------------------------Rimando--------------------------- Yedlin--------Gonzalez--------Besler----------Beasley ------------------Bradley-----Jones------------------------ Zusi--------------------Dempsey---------------Donovan ---------------------------Zardes---------------------------- Bench: Hamid, SJ; Parkhurst, Orozco, Garza; Edu, Corona, Beckerman, Davis, Nguyen; Wondo, EJ. The end of an era.
I watched nearly every minute Juan played in MLS that season, including at Chivas, and this just does not match up with what I saw.
I'd rather have a college kid who impressed at a pre-WC camp than some 17 year old who can't get playing time with a third division European club.
Gomez Dempsey Wondo Davis Donovan Rasta Beasley Bocanegra Gooch Evans Howard Let's make it truly a farewell game!

I'm not a big Wondo for USMNT fan, but whose to say the striker you think we should have brought over Wondo would have even been in that spot for the shot? Wondo's positioning is as good as anyone. I dont think he cost us the game, he just didn't take his chance to win it
