Landon gets his send off game against Ecuador http://www.si.com/soccer/planet-fut...n-usa-usmnt-hartford-ecuador-jurgen-klinsmann
I wonder who will get a rest for this one, if Jurgen calls all the World Cup vets there won't be much room for experimenting
Projected roster (MLS and Mexican-based players only): G: Rimando, Hamid, Irwin CB: Gonzalez, Besler, Edu, Parkhurst RB: Yedlin, ? LB: Garza, Robbie Rogers CM: Bradley, Jones, Feilhaber, Powers, Shipp W: Donovan, Dempsey, Zusi, Nguyen, Silva F: Zardes, Bruin, McInerney, Wenger Don't call: Beckerman, Wondolowski, Beasley, Corona, Castillo, Torres, EJ, Davis, Evans, Gil.
I honestly think it will be a split camp. This game against Ecuador will be primarily the A squad + Donovan. So we should be able to call in everyone but Seattle will be in a tough spot as they have two games during this period.
My first draft looks like this All mls for this one. 1st team that's funny, isnt that the world cup team?) ---------------dempsey------- --donovan--jones--bradley--zusi ------------------rasta----------- --beasley--besler---gonzo---yedlin -----------------rimando--------- The replacements: -----------mullins,akindele--- --serna---nguyen----wenger ---------trapp--powers--- ---garza--hedges--shuler-- ---------------hamid----- Wenger can play back if Yedlin needs to come off. Subs: akindele, wenger, nguyen, powers, garza + 1 but it would depend on the situation. I think we need to know if these guys can hang with athletes of Ecuador's caliber. The DNP guys would be there for the lecture on what we need to see from them at their clubs.
Being that it is Ecuador and not say Mexico or Brasil or Italia, JK can bring a young squad for all I care, like what we say yesterday in Prague, but for fuk's sake just start Donovan and remove him sometime in the 2nd half to a standing O the man rightfully has earned. Some of us should plan to do a kick ass tifo for him. Thanks for all the memories sign with like 20 cans of red, white and blue let off. Something no other U.S. player has ever received.
Watch him play Donovan for 1 minute at Goalkeeper or something. I'm surprised the sendoff game wasn't in Prague
Most Euro teams are taking the weekend off, as are LigaMX clubs. MLS is not. I know they are FIFA dates, but it'd be a dick move from JK to call in a full MLS team when their clubs could be fighting for the Shield, or the playoffs, to play in a friendly when we're still about 7 months away from the Gold Cup. I would prefer to bring in the same guys we saw in Prague, with a few tweaks: if healthy, call Bacon and T-Bone Boyd instead of Rubin and Wood. Joe College can train with them too, i guess. And of course, Donovan. Leave Shea behind. I'd also like to see Lichaj, but i know that's not going to happen. For Honduras, from looking at the schedule, the only domestic players i'd call would be Zusi, Biesler, Feilhaber, Dempsey, Yedlin, and Evans. Yep, i said Evans, so we can release Fabian and/or Chandler. Also release Donovan, Brooks, Bedoya, Boyd, and Hyndman.
GK: Sean Johnson, Bill Hamid, Nick Rimando RB: DeAndre Yedlin, Andrew Farrell CB: Matt Hedges, Nick Hagglund, Chris Schuler, Chad Marshall LB: Greg Garza, Chris Klute CM: Wil Trapp, Dillon Powers, Perry Kitchen, Joe Corona AM/Wing: Landon Donovan, Luis Gil, Paul Arriola, Dillon Serna, Tommy Thompson CF: Gyasi Zardes, Jack McInerney, Tesho Akindele, Will Bruin GK: Sean Johnson RB: DeAndre Yedlin CB: Nick Hagglund CB: Matt Hedges LB: Greg Garza DM: Perry Kitchen DM: Wil Trapp LM: Dillon Serna RM: Paul Arriola AM: Landon Donovan(C) CF: Gyasi Zardes
fwiw, MLS didn't do much of anything to get out of the way of this FIFA friendly date window (Oct 6 -14). We'll see if that at all impacts who JK opts to call up for the 10/10 match. My guess would be that he doesn't call in more than 2 players from any one team. Forget Bradley, Toronto play right before and right after the Ecuador game. Lot of conflict for that date, no wonder JK was not a happy camper. Maybe we will see more of the euro young ones.
With the Rubin, Morris and Hyndman call ups, it wouldn't surprise me. Big thing working in TT's favor is that MLS teams in the playoff race are going to lose their shit if their best players get tapped by Juergen. SJ doesn't have to worry about since, you know, they suck.
Come on now. The truth is Morris really impressed JK during the pre WC camp. Doubt any other college kids get called up for a while.
