Good news for our U-23's, as the proposed sites are Aguascalientes, San Luis Potosi, and Guadalajara. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/elsentinel/deportes/sfl-5559513oct28,0,1341885.story Apparently, Mexico City was ruled out after poor attendances for the Gold Cup.
Re: Re: U-23 qualifying not in Mexico City Guadalajara is like a four-hour bus ride away from Puerto Vallarta. That's easily do-able. Depending on where you live, you could probably get cheap flights to Vallarta, too. Unfortunately, Aguascalientes and SLP aren't so good for beach access, though.
It looks like it's time to start planning your trips to Guadalajara. http://www.tvazteca.com.mx/deportes/futbolmexicano/2003/11/549155.shtml
San Luis Potosi is a beautiful place, and is a UNESCO World Heritage site due to the many colonial buildings. Guadalajara is great; I have been there twice, most recently 14 months ago. We stayed in the youth hostel. 100 pesos a night (about $9.50), near the Plaza Tapatia, which also has a UNESCO site at one end. The hostel is in a lovely old building, has very nice common areas and a very friendly staff. But the bathrooms are not the best. There are many hotels under $50 per night. The Estadio Jalicso is a lovely stadium, built around 1962, and has hosted 2 World Cups. It is about 2 miles from the hostel. Crime is not too bad in Guadalajara. Maybe we should start a travel thread on this!
You have no idea - I'm also never going back to my old school. Also, I told her I wanted our kids to go to a good state school like William & Mary. You can only imagine what she said about that.
Eeasy call. Go to Guadalajara in February, or stay in Portland? Hmmm. If anyone else is going, I'll see you there.
