Portugal-Denmark to be on soon but this game is running long.

    Freekick to Latvia.

    12 minutes already of stoppage...

The initial problem with the lights only took off five minutes what are they waiting for.

Another yellow to a Latvian, who gets expulsioned with what must be just seconds on the clock.

    Cleared out.

I read on UEFA.com that Vaz had a productive game, almost scored in the first 20 minutes then had a shot go off the crossbar. Looks like some bad Vaz Bias on Avs' part maybe?

I'm not surprised with Varela, he saved us in the U-21 to go through to the final Topurney and has been by far our best young forward.

Why Almeida get's called before him is pure Stupidity.

I didn't see the game, so I couldn't tell you, but the PBP commentary I was reading certainly doesn't make his performance sound as bad as Avs is suggesting. In addition to what you mentioned, he also assisted Varela's goal.

I'm sorry but Vaz Te was horrible. That "chance in the 30th minute" was the only good shot he had the whole game, aside from one that barely hit the post on its way out.

He was easily outclassed by Yannick and Varela. Not to mention he lost the ball too easily when he shifted to the left flank.

    Assisted Varela's goal?

It wasn't as if it was a tap-in, Varela dribbled by himself into the area and shot. That's giving way too much credit to Vaz Te. And I believe Varela got the ball from a rebound shot from Vaz Te, not an assist.

Goals up in the Media thread.

And I think when you see Varela's goal you'll see just why I think it's giving too much credit to Vaz Te to say he assisted Varela.

Just saw the goals thanks to Avs. I would just like to state that he does contribute alot to this wonderful internet community of ours and I for one appreciate everything you have given us.

Now to the game, Varela gol was quiet clever and sneaky. The only reason why I don't think he will be on the Seleccao is because he doesn't seem to be Athletic enough for me. Not compared to Vaz Te or Almeida or even Djalo. But who knows, his smarts and patience might make him more of an asset then the later 3.
