shouldn't there be a bigger link to matchtracker than in the tiny text that i didn't even notice? ussoccer.com is, i am afraid, truly flawed. over-engineered, busy, too many sections, too many small menus. it took me several minutes of looking before i finally spotted it. it isn't even underlined until you roll over it. why is there still a big for Etahn Zohn's Zone but none for matchtracker? are they afraid it will divert sales of the pay-per-view if people can actually find it? they've mentioned it in every email, only to hide it. maybe i'm an idiot for missing te link, but it should be obvious, and that definitely isn't obvious.
Bad news already.. Convey is out due to Passport mix up.. Also, from watching the TV, there appear to be only about 300 people in attendance.. Charleston comes through big time....
Sorry to barge in but I have to ask: How can an American, playing in the US have passport problems? I gots ta know!
Apparently he didn't have it with him and he has to have it to show his citizenship because this is an international tournament.
OK, that makes sense. Thanks. Surprised that the federation didn't make sure that was taken care of. Hopefully his absence won't be significant to the outcome.
USA 1 Haiti 0. Ed Johnson scored on a clinical right footer inside the 18 after a nice cross from the left wing by Mapp. BTW, Cronin is a monster on distribution and Clark is a nice ball winner.
According to crappy match tracker, the US now up 1-0 on a 28th minute goal from Ed Johnson with an assist to Justin Mapp.
Wow, that's an annoying nickname. I know you're in love with your own wit, but a "map" is produced by a "cartographer"-- it isn't the product itself. Now it's time to clean up the barista I spilled upon my favorite author.
Until the goal, Quaranta was having a terrible first half.. A lot of bad first touches (which is very unusual for him) and he got stripped rather easily a few times as well.. As for the injury, it looked like on TV that he probably either dislocated his left pinky finger or broken it outright.. He subbed out but all things considered it doesn't look to be too serious.. Ed Johnson and Ricardo Clark are the class of the pitch so far.. Jordan Harvey (left back) is simply atrocious.. If he isn't spraying balls route one balls twenty yards out of bounds, he is killing his teamates with hospital balls on nearly every single occasion... I'm a little suprised that Justin Mapp hasn't really taken on the right back yet as he seems way quicker and more solid.. Good cross for the first goal though... It looks to me like the field is playing very fast, almost like on a artificial surface as the ball is taking hard bounces and all the touches are way off.. USA scored on two of their three chances on goal...
Santino hurt himself, but it is his arm so they can always splint it up if sprained or cast it up if broken, and he can still play.. Johnson, Clark, and Mapp looked good. Cochrane(sp) has made some crushing tackles at center back, but the defense has been pretty much untested.
Very unimpressive victory for the USA... The only players who played well IMHO were Mapp, Ed Johnson and Ricardo Clark... The defense was never really tested but when they had the ball they often just sent useless balls upfield either out of bounds or to wide open Haitian defenders (see Jordan Harvey)... Players that were quite bad for the USA IMHO were Harvey and David Johnson.. I guess they really missed Convey out there because this was one ugly match.. Too many negative passes for the USA when a simple look around could start up an attack.. Sometimes players have to have a sense of who is around them on the field and I didn't see that tonight from the midfield... Hopefully they can put in a much better performance on Friday night... If I had paid $20 to watch that on PPV, I would have been pissed.. Fortunately for me, I get all my PPV stuff for zippy...
