Barclay did a good job of being invisible most of the game. He seems to get himself into good positions to NOT receive the ball. He was not involved much offensively or defensively. Johnson drifted over to the right into his space a lot and the right back (Klaas) seemed to push up a lot, so you'd think the right would be crowded, but Barclay was nowhere to be found.

I was expecting more from him in this tournament, but he seemed to play like he does with the Quakes. There's a lot of running around, but he doesn't put himself into good positions to receive the ball. When he gets it, he seems to run out of ideas.

I didn't tape it. I was planning to tape the replay they showed immediately after the live match, but it was such a sloppy game overall that I decided to not tape it.

I believe Eddie Johnson was wearing the captain's armband since Convey had passport issues. I might be misremembering though.

It seems outside midfielder is the wrong place for this kid. He did better as forward for the youth national teams, and scored sometimes for Tampa at that position.

Are you sure you weren't watching the Quakes "highlights" of Barclay's? This is not good news.

Please keep providing updateds as the tournmanet progresses....

The next match is Friday afternoon at 4:30 pm. It will be broadcast live on DirecTV pay per view. I plan to pay the $20 to watch the match again, but for those who aren't willing or able to do the same, there will probably again be a PBP on the youth Nats board or in a chat room.

Scotto, if you tape it, I'll give you some cash to help with the cost of ordering it.
