http://www.usatoday.com/sports/soccer/national/2003-03-06-youth-cahmpionships-ppd_x.htm Terrible news for the players who have worked hard to the make the tourney only to have politics intervene. But good news for the Metros if Clark and Magee will be spending more time with the team. It'll be great to have those two playing in the scrimmages and getting time on the field with their teammates.
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=260015&cc=5901 soccernet has it too. does this mean Magee and Clark are gonna be there opening day? one other question thats pretty far off the topic, why isnt Gaven with the team, i mean, i know he's with the U-17's, but why isnt he gonna be with the team until Augest? is there a tournie scheduled to take place for a few months? ~DRE~
Gaven is currently playing in the U-17 qualifying tournament, and depending on how things go, the U-17 championship is late in the summer. So if the team qualifies, and if they play like they did last night there is probably little doubt that they will, it makes sense for these guys to stay with the U-17 in Florida to train together and finish up school there during preparation for the championships.
Don't count on seeing Gaven all year. Bradley said almost as much during his post-draft review. The thing with Clark and Magee is that while it may free them up in March, what's likely is that the tournament is re-scheduled for the summer so they may be gone for six weeks in the middle of the season.
"FIFA hopes to play the tournament later in the year in the UAE, but it must wait until the outcome of the Iraq crisis." http://www.socceramerica.com/article.asp?Art_ID=562132982
