Wait a second here...is this really a team from Germany? We made them look like another team that plays in the US Soccer Development Academy. I kid you not.

We are developing some real talent. We have been scouting the Latino youth leagues. The ones the colleges ignore. With in 5 to 10 years we will be the Barcelona of MLS

Still disagree with you, also on the grounds that I also prefer us to be the LA Galaxy rather than any other big-name club.

I get what you're saying, and I like it. I don't care about La Liga soccer, so your comparison is alright with me. Because Barcelona does have a reputation for developing their core players through their academy and transferring players in to fill in the voids and add depth. If that's what we're doing by signing McBean, Villarreal, Sotto, and Zardes, plus down the road hopefully signing Arriola, Mendiola, Villarreal II, etc. then I'm all for that, and the comparison.

My point exactly. We should use Barca as a model. They became one of the great clubs in the world by developing their own players.

While I am sure that we are developing talented players via the Academy, and we may be scouting the Latino youth leagues (I have no clue), I question your point about colleges ignoring Latino youth. College soccer is limited by NCAA limits to 9.9 full scholarships. Consequently most players on a team get either a partial scholarship or are walk-ons. This means that family income much more than ethnic origin plays a factor in who makes it onto a college team. I believe its North Carolina where only Players who are WMNT members (and possibly returning all americans) get full rides (and women's soccer has a 15 scholarship limit).

Curious. Now this may open a can of worms (and show off my ignorance regarding college athletics), but why are schools able to give more scholarships to female soccer players than males?

I think it has to do with total athletic scholarships given, and Title IX requirements. More soccer scholarships to women, to balance out the football scholarships given to men?

There is parity in this tournament. Schooled by a bunch of Brazilians...typical.
