NOTES: *PDP All-Stars is a player development team from So Cal started by AEG this summer. http://www.yescsl.com/cgi-win/main.exe?dN103 *7 players from SoCal were invited to train invited to train with the team as a residency tryout, but there names aren't listed. Gers, anyone? *The press release says that 21 players were invited to camp from residency, but it only lists 20. *It's unfortunate they couldn't bring in Mexico and Costa Rica again this year for a series of games.
Yeah Stephens is the only 89 going with team. It seems they hold Stephens pretty high, Ellinger has said that Stephens is in the Bobby Convey mold of a player The other 89's in residency that are not with the team: F - Brett King M - Cesar Nunez GK - Matthew Walker
It turns out the 89's that are not with this group are overseas in Europe with 1989 ODP All Stars http://www.usysa.org/home/75265.html
If someone manages to get a hold of a schedule with times for this, can you please post? I will try calling HDC, but they are not always the most informed bunch. Thanks much.
https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=93544 The schedule in this thread lists the first game with a start time of 4PM and the other three starting at 6 PM. I'll be expecting one of those in-depth reports if you make it to a game .
Doh! Memo to self: Thread entitled "YNT 2004 Schedule" may contain YNT 2004 Schedule. I will do my best to get some eyewitness report. I will likely go to the game on Saturday at the very least. Pretty hard to pass up a game against the U-17's although it may be too early for me to get there. Maybe I will "work from the home office" that day.
heard players that were being looked @ ....2 from Irvine Strikers, 2 from Pats, 1 from Surf and 1 from Sereno Eagles Also..both Farfans are at camp Should be some decent training sessions......
Pat Rickards from Nor cal San Juan club also there trying out as one of the 7. He is the sweeper on the regional team.
US u-17 gets smashed by Irvine Strikers u-19 4-0 http://www.ussoccer.com/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=65859&itype=113&iCategoryID=0
Awesome report at TDS that includes the names of 7 players on trial and some interesting quotes from Ellinger. The players on trial are Matt Armstrong, David Arvizu, Ernesto Mariscal, Danny Ortega, Eder Robles, Patrick Rickards (D) and Joel Smith. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/NationalTeams/1085890766/view
I heard at the game that two players from this Irvine team have been called to the U-20 team for the Brazil game in Ft. Lauderdale---GK Andrew Kartunen (Stanford) and Def. Kiel McClung (UCLA).
That's what they say about all the goalkeepers from the Southern Cal area, especially ones that have played for the Irvine Strikers.
U-17s defeat Irvine 1-0 behind David Arvizu goal. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/NationalTeams/1086206044/view
It was a beautiful goal, but it was a good thing the ref wasn't on the last defender (I was). David started his run a little too soon...but the game is all about skill with a little luck thrown in...Congrats are still well deserved!!
Is Arvizu the next phenom? He got another yesterday, giving him two goals in three games (he played with '87s back in Feb). Don't go ballistic on that comment. I'm just starting the hyperbole before anyone else does. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/NationalTeams/1086388432/view
Zimmerman is supposed to be one of the better players from his year so maybe Gersman is saying that this guy will be the next decent youth striker? I dunno, I've never seen either of them play.
