Canada-Mexico Final, we'll win it again... Men’s U-17 Team Thursday, August 03, 2006 Hart Announces Roster for Caribbean Cup http://www.canadasoccer.com/eng/medi...?Press_ID=2496 Ottawa, Ontario – Canada’s Men’s U-17 Team Head Coach and interim National Team boss, Stephen Hart, has announced his 18-man roster for the upcoming U-16 Caribbean Football Union’s Youth Cup in Trinidad and Tobago. The young Canadians are the defending champions of the 2005 event, having rolled over Guatemala by a score of 4-0 in last year’s final. This year’s 28-team tournament will take place from August 14-27 with 23 teams from the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) along with invited teams El Salvador, Panama, Guatemala and Mexico joining Canada to round out the field. Hart and his charges will begin preparations with a four day training camp in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on August 8 before traveling to Trinidad and Tobago on August 12. The Canadians have been drawn into Group A along with Bermuda, El Salvador and Guyana and will play their first round matches at Dwight York Stadium in Tobago. The first place team in each of the seven groups along with the best second place finisher will advance to the quarterfinals. In capturing last year’s championship, Canada defeated Dominica (9:0), Grenada (6:0) and St. Lucia (9:0) in the group stage before toping Netherlands Antilles (6:0) in the quarterfinals, Jamaica (4:2) in the semi-finals and Guatemala (4:0) in the final. 'We felt that this Tournament would be the ideal opportunity to give new players experience in CONCACAF and the opportunity to be evaluated,” said Hart. “As a consequence 11 new players will be involved.' There will be additional incentive for the CFU teams in this year’s event as it will double as the Caribbean Preliminary Qualification to the CONCACAF U-17 Final Round Qualifier taking place in April 2007 in Jamaica and Honduras. The top finishing Caribbean team (excluding Jamaica) will join Canada, Mexico, USA, two teams from Central America and the group hosts in the 2007 CONCACAF U-17 Final Round. Five teams will advance from the final round to represent CONCACAF at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Korea 2007 taking place from August 18-September 8. The young Canadians will be looking to qualify for their first U-17 World Cup since the 1995 championship in Ecuador. Following the tournament, Hart will join the men’s national team to prepare for the September 4th (Labour Day) international friendly against Jamaica at the Complexe sportif Claude-Robillard in Montreal, QC at 4:00 pm ET. Tickets are priced $15.00 and $25.00 plus applicable taxes and are available through admission.com. Don't count Guatemala out, we'll seek revenge. We have an American head coach for our U16 team, Tim Hankinson. Lets see what he can do.
TT ‘B’ team in Youth Cup replacement. By: T&T Newsday. A Trinidad and Tobago “B” team will replace the Dominican Republic as one of the 28 participants at the 2006 Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Under-16 Youth Cup, scheduled to take place here from Monday to August 26.No reason was given by the CFU for the late switch but the move prompted a slight alteration in the grouping of the teams. Trinidad and Tobago were grouped with Grenada, Aruba and the Dominican Republic in Group “E”. However with the inclusion of a TT reserve outfit, Guyana will take the place of the Dominican Republic in Group “E” while the national “B” team will fill the void left by Guyana in Group “A”. In related news, matches in Group “E” will now be staged at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Arima and the Manny Ramjohn Stadium in Marabella, due to the unavailability of the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Mucurapo. The outfield at the Mucurapo venue is still under repairs and the organisers were forced to schedule the opening round of matches at Arima, with a double-header on Monday. Grenada and Guyana will meet in the curtain-raiser from 3 pm while Trinidad and Tobago will face Aruba two hours later. Next Wednesday, Aruba and Guyana square off from 3 pm at Marabella followed by the TT-Grenada contest while, on August 18, the hosts will face Guyana at 5 pm, two hours after Aruba battles Grenada. But the Hasely Crawford Stadium will be available for the semi-final double-header on August 24 and, on August 26, the third-placed play-off and final matches respectively.

CANADA crushes Bermuda ! *** Note: the names of the Canadian players are listed backwards (ie. last name, first name). This also explains what happened to Guate. By Jovan Ravello DEFENDING CARIBBEAN Football Union Under-16 Youth Cup champions Canada sent a loud message to the rest of the competition as it handed Bermuda a demoralising 10-0 defeat, in the opening Group A match at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, Tobago, yesterday. The severe beating got underway as early as the fourth minute, when Bonsu Randy struck the first blow. Then, in the sixth, Davies Phillipe struck Canada’s second. Johnstone Marcus put in a performance that earned him the “Man of the Match” title, scoring the first of a beaver-trick in the 16th minute, Sylla Mohamed beat the ‘keeper in the 22nd. Marcus added another in the 29th and Mohamed scored his second in the 32nd, to make it 6-0 after 45 minutes. The Canadians reminded their opponents and the other 25 teams in the competition of their power when they continued scoring at will on the resumption. In the 65th minute, Lightman Jarek got in on the act with his first, Marcus completed his beaver’ with goals in the 74th and 79th minutes, before Jarek closed the show with a 90th minute strike. El Salvador, the other Group A team, arrived belatedly for the start of the tournament and will take on the Caribbean Football Union President’s XI at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Bacolet, Tobago, 4pm. On Thursday ,the CFU President’s XI meet Bermuda at 4pm and El Salvador plays Canada, at 6pm at the Dwight Yorke Stadium. Guatemala, the fourth Group D team, did not show up in the country in time for its opening fixture against Haiti yesterday. The competition’s General Co-ordinator Neville Ferguson revealed yesterday that the situation was being looked at, but that no decision had been made as yet and the group would continue with three teams until such time. As a result, the Haitians played Cayman Islands and won 5-0. Matches continue today. I KNOW ITS AWSOME!!!!!! I cant still believe we one by such a large margin, now we know that that intensive two month tranning worked out for the best. Its look like its gona be PR and Panama in our group, both teams one by a large margin.
i wonder what happend maybe the FA got confused??? we do have a match v Haiti MNT senior side today in miami.. this is confusing it has to be something internal. we placed 2nd last year , and beat the host i would't think Guate is scared
I thought it was common football jargon for a 4 goal haul... 2 = a brace 3 = a hattrick 4 = a beaver trick
You..but after googling beaver trick i see that it's a caribbean thing. Nation news from Bahamas used the term in an article and so did the T&T newspaper...
